I agree about wishing the heart button was still there in v7. I used that extensively. Clicking or unclicking the heart is much easier than menu scroll down then Alt click.
While I'm on the subject of buttons vs menus ... I would also love to see a button for reset filter and invert filter in ...

Re: Why are the higher-level fields not written?
I've not noticed that the Keywords has to be turned on, but I tend to use the script "Switch ON Assign Parent Labels for All Catalog Labels.psc" every now and then to make sure they are all turned ON etc.
Thanks for the reply. I didn't know that script existed so that's good to know. I really ...

Re: Why are the higher-level fields not written?
Hi,
I realize this is an little bit of an older thread but I'm trying to understand how "process parent mapping" works and I have a question about something fbungarz said:

Re: Places
Eureka!! That's it! Thank you so much!
I would have never thought that was configurable so the thought never crossed my mind to look in the configuration.
That was the final piece I needed. I really appreciate the help as always.

Re: Places
Hi snowman1,
Thank you for the post as I've been struggling to understand the relationship between the Places labels and the actual metadata stored in the photo.

Trying to understand zoom in Light Table
I am having trouble with zoom in a couple of different scenarios
The biggest one is in Light Table, if I have 2 photos selected and zoom in using + (making sure my mouse is "resting" on the pinned toolbar), they zoom to different parts of the photo. The more I zoom in, the more they diverge of ...

Thanks for the information. I'll have to give those a try. Sorry for the delay in answering. I forgot to bookmark it so I wasn't getting notifications.

Re: move label structure without images to a new catalog?
This script was extremely helpful to me as well. Thanks Hert!
There were a few things that it didn't export/import so I wanted to see if it was supposed to do those or not before I started recreating/editing them manually:
Color Label Names
Folder Label Names
Label Sets

I'm glad #1 is possible. Thanks Hert!

Is it possible to "link" non-hierarchial catalog labels?
I'm trying to figure out if I can get PSU to do some of my work for me. ;) The alternate way to put it is ... can I get PSU to remember to put in labels that I am likely to forget. ;)

Re: copying metadata from one file to another
Thanks Hert.
I tried your suggestion in #2 and it is kind of working. When I do the paste, it looks fine. Everything is there. However, when I then hit "OK" at the bottom of the details pane, some of the information gets removed. For example, when I paste it in, there are 11 keywords but once I ...

copying metadata from one file to another
I'm sure this is probably answered in this forum somewhere but I was unable to construct a search that the search engine liked. It kept telling me the terms were all too common so it couldn't search for anything unless I put in one uncommon search term. So, apologies if this is answered elsewhere in ...

I meant to also ask this question in the same post, sorry ...
I'm also curious how y'all handle this... You rate a photo a 4 stars and then you edit it (adjustments, color correction, etc.) and name the edited version with an -e1 appended to the filename. Do you leave the original version with 4 ...

What do you use your color labels for?
Hi,
I'm moving from another DAM so I'm having to revamp some of my metadata structure with the biggest change being in how I use star ratings and color labels. My old tool had 9 colors instead of 5 and it was easier to apply color labels vs star ratings so I used color labels to do my rating and ...

Re: Image editing in PSU??
I use it - the vast majority of my edits are simple ones, typically just cropping and tweaks to exposure. PSU is ideal for these, plus it's great that the edits are virtual.
Yes auto-adjust does do something! You should be able to see the effect by clicking on each of the three sub-buttons to ...
