Having duplicate file names could become confusing in multiple ways - for you and for any software - so I'm not entirely surprised.
My suggestion would be to look at identifying and renaming any identically named files. There are various ideas that may help you adopt a unique scheme in this thread ...

Re: Easy Filtering?
Am I overlooking something?
You are :)
For that sort of thing you'd be better off using the Dynamic Search panel.
At its simplest, just find the camera you want from Details » Technical » Camera Model and hit the space bar to select it. Then go to Categories » Places » Asia » China » Shaanxi ...

Re: Can AI Analyze a batch of photos but not auto create Category Labels in my Personal Categories?
I've played with all the various versions and I have to say I have yet to find a real use for the labels it comes up with. Finding them to be so general as to not be of any great use. Most of my labels relate to Locations, Individuals, mechanical parts. Being able to identify all Dusk / Sunset ...

Re: OpenAI examples
I have labels with black, white and cyan triangles in the LAP (attached). Cyan is clearly Google Vision labels, but I can't figure out the difference between the black & white ones. The calaloging manual has examples of green, white & cyan triangles, but I can't find any explanation. There are no ...

Re: Problem: Copying all catalog labels from one image to another
If you mean 'Paste Labels from Clipboard', for me (on Windows) it only pastes them once. But maybe 'Insert Catalog Labels' is something else that I can't recall?

Re: OCR and AI Summarization via External API
I use VueScan for scanning paper to PDF with OCR enabled. It works brilliantly.
I do the same with the OCR option on my Epson Perfection scanner, which works well. I also use Pdfforge's PDF Creator (https://www.pdfforge.org/pdfcreator) to archive digital documents with OCR.
However I only have ...

Good idea to save the codes to a text file, in case you need to reinstall PSU at any time.

Re: Info-Window and Light Table
I would like to display the very nice and clear info window permanently (preferably "floating"). Is this possible?
No, however you can recreate most of the same information below every thumbnail by creating a 'Custom Thumbnail Style'. For example, mine shows:
rating (interactive); ISO; sharpness ...

Re: Triangle in catalog label corner?
They appear because you've set a custom color (grey) as the background for the category. If you like the idea, then you can set different custom colors for each of the default top-level categories in PSU (events, people, etc). If you dislike the feature, set the custom color transparent and the ...

BTW, if you're seriously into scientific naming, then PSU supports Darwin Core.

Re: Issue with long catalog label display
As there has been no response, I assume that it is not currently possible to change the way long label text is displayed. Is this a problem just for me or do any other users find it an issue? Is it worth submitting a feature request?
No, it's not possible to change it but yes, I have encountered ...

Re: Long duration for upgrade v2024 to v2025
I wonder, if my PC is the only one, which took so much time for the upgrade.
Most database upgrades are quick, but that's not always the case, especially when moving to a new major version. AIUI it the difference depends on how radically the database is being restructured / re-indexed ...

Re: Photo Supreme v2025 is released
Tip; you can make the sharpness visible with a custom thumb line like the one below:
Sharp: %ImageSharpness{encode=html}
I'm not sure exactly what the figure represents, but my initial use has been to determine which of several visually identical slow-shutter-speed low-light images are best ...

Re: finding portfolios for a photo
The macro is a menu selection. Follow these steps:
Select New Custom Field > Add Macro Field
Enter a caption.
Click the pre-entered %FileName and choose Select Another Macro
Select Catalog > Portfolio List
Click OK
Thanks - that did it :)
I tried everything but that! Clicking on the menu ...
