SOLVED - Unresponsive on 2nd monitor
SOLVED - Unresponsive on 2nd monitor
HI Hert
Have a bug in PS (latest version) when using second monitor attached to laptop. Drop down arrow for stored batches responsive but produces only a tiny square (circled in picture). Also the "+" action is entirely unresponsive. If I move PS window to laptop window then these function correctly. I can reproduce every time.
Thank you

Re: Unresponsive on 2nd monitor
Bump - is anyone else having issues with drop downs not functioning properly on a second monitor. Is really frustrating
Re: Unresponsive on 2nd monitor
Not sure what operating system your using, but its working OK here on multiple screens on W10 and W11, even moving the main panels around to each screen makes no difference.

Using Windows 10. No other issues in other software using dual screens. PS works on both screens it is just that I cannot use the batch tools at all on my second screen - one of the drop down menus will not work as per picture in my original post.
Re: Unresponsive on 2nd monitor
Hello,
I'm also having display problems with my 2-screen configuration. It's not exactly like you but there are similarities.
The general search drop down menu, as well as the one for labels, only opens very partially (see screenshots below).
More details and possible cause of the problem:
My config :
- Desktop PC
- Windows 11
- Main screen : high end Eizo 27" 2k
- Second screen: more classic 24" 2k
I have the display problem when the main PSU window is open on the second screen.
If PSU is open on the main screen, no problem.
But the aim is of course to see the full screen photo on the high end calibrated screen and to have thumbnails, image details, labels, etc. on the second screen. So this partial drop down menu opening is a bit annoying.
I also tested my 2 screens configuration with 2 different laptops and I had exactly the same problem.
However, I was able to test my PC on the following configuration: 2 IDENTICAL screens (Full HD and 24" for both screens). And this time there's no problem, the drop down menus open correctly whatever screen PSU is open on.
-> problem when PPI aren't the same on both screens ?

Yes - same here - everything that Filmoni said and also the same thought about differing screen resolution.Filmoni wrote: 20 Oct 23 13:46

Re: Unresponsive on 2nd monitor
Have spent the weekend playing with screen settings but am still left with the situation where I am unable to use batch controls because the drop down and button controls are not functioning on the second (colour calibrated) monitor. As described before, I can only get these to work by moving PS onto my laptop screen (smaller).
Is there any work around for this or even a fix because this is a major issue for me.
(I also have issues with other drop-downs not resizing so that the words contained in drop down lists are obscured, shortened and inaccessible).

Re: Unresponsive on 2nd monitor
Hi @Hert - I am wondering if this is a bug within PS - or whether you have any ideas for a fix if it is. I cannot currently use PS for any meaningful batch jobs without dragging it down to the small laptop screen where menus are functioning. My much larger colour calibrated monitor does not work with the batch menus and also any other slide out/drop down menus. This may not be a recent change within PS but more just a discovered glitch due to adding in a different monitor. All other software functioning.
If not I am in a bind
Thanks

Re: Unresponsive on 2nd monitor
My user-to-user opinion would be to keep the monitor settings identical between monitors where possible: particularly the resolution and also the scaling. If that doesn't help then try to switch the primary and secondary monitor in the OS.
I have no idea if this is a bug or not. AFAIK It has never been reported.

Re: SOLVED - Unresponsive on 2nd monitor
The issue was the primary and secondary monitors switching when I disconnected the laptop from the monitor a couple of weeks ago. I thought I had checked this.
Thanks for the reminder Hert. All good, solved.

Re: SOLVED - Unresponsive on 2nd monitor
Hello @Bethcee,
Can you please confirm the following points ?
- You have set your colour calibrated monitor as the main screen and your laptop screen as the secondary ?
- You open PSU on the colour calibrated monitor and you only use this one ?
If yes, can you please quickly try the following thing for me ?
Open PSU on your laptop screen and use the option : Images open in / Viewer on Second Monitor (in the general settings).
Like this you are able to see the picture in full screen on your main colour calibrated monitor while working on labels, geotag, details info on your secondary screen.
In this configuration, does the label and general search drop down menus open entirely or is it like on the pictures I sent on my first message ?
Thank you very much for your help
(PS: my 2 screens have the same resolution and scaling)
