Hi,
I want to copy 812 image files in a portfolio to a USB drive. Seems like this should be the most basic of functions but I don't see how to do it.
First I tried a simple drag and drop from PSU to the file explorer. That did nothing.
From my earlier notes I thought I could select the images in the PSU portfolio and Alt-drag them to the folder in the file explorer window, but that didn't work either. The transfer never completed, so after maybe half an hour I cancelled and found that no files were transferred. When I tried just a few files I ended up with shortcuts to the images files instead of the files themselves.
The next most obvious approach (to me) is to select the files in PSU, right-click/copy or Ctrl-C, and then paste into the target folder in the file explorer. When I did the copy command PSU displayed "Copied xx items to the clipboard" but when I tried to paste the clipboard was empty. It fails with 2 files or 812.
How can I do this copy?
Thanks,
Mike
How to Copy Images in a Portfolio to a Folder?
Re: How to Copy Images in a Portfolio to a Folder?
Use "share" to folder ("share" is one of the options along the bottom right hand of the PSU screen, share can have various targets including social media sites but one of which is a folder on your machine).
But be aware that the specific settings of share can greatly affect the resulting image that gets shared, in terms of image pixel size and what metadata - if any - gets included (if you search here you'll find more info, the detail is a bit complex for this quick reply).

I have a number of scripts for copying, depending on the purpose. Note the icons can be right-clicked. See 2 attached screen caps...

Snowman1 and Andrew,
Thanks for the help. That does the job, however it also sets both the file create and modified date stamp for every file copied to the time of the copy, which I don't want. I specify no resizing, renaming, or anything else, so the files should be copied unaltered. I looked at the options for the Share and saw no way to control this. Is there any way to preserve the date stamps?

Hi G8DHE,
Thanks, but I don't think that helps. The create and modified date for the files in the collection are already set correctly. Your suggestion would fix them if they were wrong, but they're not. What I want is to keep the correct dates in the files when I copy them somewhere else where I don't want to catalog them.
For my particular use I can circumvent this problem so it's not a big issue for me. IDImager did this right (copy/paste without changing date stamps). Intuitively it seems like the obvious thing to do, and I just wish it worked as it did in IDImager.
Thanks,
Mike
