Customizing the grid view columns

I posted this to the mantis feature request site about 2 months ago, but I don't think anyone has seen it there. I am trying to migrate over from Media Pro and the thing I am going to miss most is the ability customize the columns in the grid (list) view.

I utilize the grid view in Media Pro extensively to batch tag and check my photos with categories, keywords, locations, etc. Is there a way to increase the number of options for the column headings?

Media Pro allows you to add essentially any metadata catagory as a column with two clicks. You can see all the options that MP gives you in this screenshot the screenshot I attached to my mantis request (I am not allowed to post URLs here yet).

You can add custom fields in the Info Panel. Custom fields also appear in the grid view.

IMHO this is a limitation of the split between forum topics & the bug tracking system. I follow the forum but not feature requests. Your request sounds good. I don't use grid mode due to its limitations. I'd vote for your request. What is the URL?

Thank you, Hert! That looks like exactly what I am after! I will give it a try as soon as my thumbnail database finishes compacting.

Andrew -- I tried to put the URL in my original post but am barred from posting URLs. (I assume because I am brand new.) But the summary description is: "0003364: Grid View Columns (coming from Media Pro)" and it is just fifth from the top in the recent list.

I just wanted to circle back here and say that the custom fields works perfectly and does exactly what I need it to. It would be great if we could get it as a right-click dropdown on the column header bar, but that is a relatively minor quibble. Thank you, Hert for showing me how to do it!
