One thing you could try after adding some subfolders is to right click on the parent folder and then select Verify Folder. What happens when you do that?

It takes a lot longer when I use the Verify Folder option, but the result is the same. It freezes.

Email support to ask where you can get build 3.3.0.2589 which I am using under Mac
Never say never change, but using Mac since 2005. Photo Supreme 3.3.0.2605. I endorse the interoperability of files between applications and systems.

Simply download the trial and install it. That will upgrade the application. Some of the minor updates are not pushed through the update check, I think. Also there may be differences since you are on the Mac. However, I believe on Mac and PC the version numbers are the same.

I have 32GB of RAM. Verify Folder takes longer, but the same freezups occur when processing the added folders.

I have done some further experimentation, and PSu does seem to be more reliable when I have only a browser running alongside it. So it seems it may be a memory management problem.

Okay, I installed the trial, and I now have Build 3.3.0.2598 so we'll see if that makes a difference.

Here's another, possibly helpful, data point. I just did a Verify Folder on one of my content folders. In this case, because of some shuffling on my part, there were several folders that had been moved, so the Verify identified those folders for Removal. I clicked to proceed with the processing, and PSu froze shortly thereafter. So, the freezing problem does not seen to be directly related with the adding or importing of folders, since in this instance there were only folders slated for removal.

And by the way, I was only running a browser and a couple of other small background apps at the time. I had just recently rebooted.

Did you already try this?

I just completed a backup and then compacted the DB. I'll let you know how it goes.

@RLSprouse
Try closing unnecessary tabs and see if that improves it.

Unfortunately, I continue to experience these freezups, even after compacting the database and restarting my system. Frustrating, as it slows down my organizational process greatly.

RLSprouse ... I know this is an old thread, but I am having the same exact problem for quite some time now (except I'm on a PC.) Did you ever find out what the problem was?

Build 1949 is available from the website. Download it from the website as there's no update trigger set for this.

I had lots of freezing behaviour with Macpro 2009 until I upgraded from 32gb ram to 128gb. One day I saw all 32gb used up!
I may have gone overboard, but it shows how fed up I was.
Since I increased memory, PSU quit sending error messages. When PSU isn't responding, I know operation is undergoing in the background.
Within a few minutes everything comes back to normal.
