That new setting that DxO added and which blocked in PSU in V3 is no longer blocking in V4.

Re: DxO PhotoLab support
I reply to my question on a preferred workflow when using DxO PhotoLab, DxO support wrote the following:
Because of the way the modules in PhotoLab are designed, it is always best to only use the ORIGINAL and UNMODIFIED versions of your camera files in PhotoLab. Your workflow should be, presuming that you want to make additional changes to your photos in the standalone version of ViewPoint.
ORIGINAL IMAGE FILE > DXO PHOTOLAB > ALL OTHER PROGRAMS (INCLUDING VIEWPOINT) > FINAL PHOTO
You may use another program to organize your files. However, if even the slightest change is made to your files in the other program, your files can possibly not work correctly in PhotoLab. If this is the case, these files are not supported for use in PhotoLab. There can be no changes at all, including not adding any author, copyright or GPS information to the files prior to their use in PhotoLab. The files must be exactly as they were created by your camera.
I want to use PS to sort through my images and choose the images I want to process. I know I can take a photo from PS to DxOPhotoLab, but is there a way that I can ensure I'm exporting just the original unaltered RAW file?

Re: DxO PhotoLab support
Ken,
if you do not write metadata to the raw file, which is the standard setting, only the raw file will be sent to the program.
The Raw files are not altered at all, exemption is dng... (no proplems btw. with dxo)
the metadata is written to a sidecar file with the extension xmp
Cheers,
Michael

Re: DxO PhotoLab support
I guess they need to say that, but I write metadata back to the RAW files all the time and have not yet had a problem with using DxO after PS.ken-udle wrote: 21 Feb 18 0:29 I reply to my question on a preferred workflow when using DxO PhotoLab, DxO support wrote the following:

Re: DxO PhotoLab support
Are there still DXO file issues? AFAIK, PSU supports their latest DOP file changes.

Re: DxO PhotoLab support
In 1426 changing the WB the PS thumb and preview turns some NEFs monochrome and others do not show any effect.
Enhance colors seems to be ignored.
In 1441 they are not turning mono but WB and other color adjustments are neglected.

Re: DxO PhotoLab support
WB is not one of the "elementary" edits for PSU. Maybe you switched DXO support level to approximation in 1426?
FWIW; I always recommend using the elementary support as every form of "approximation" will be wrong. All the parametric edits of RAW develop software are proprietary. Meaning: only that specific vendor can do the exact edit interpretation. That's why RAW developer software lock their customers in. You can't just switch to another tool without the heavy penalty of losing tremendous hours of edit work.
PSU is a management software and the support for parametric edits are only to allow the user to better recognize what image they are managing. For exact display you'll always have to open the image in the software that made the edits.

Re: DxO PhotoLab support
Might have been some left over test settings because even though I did reset everything it was still monochrome.
So I removed the .dop and once again rebuilt the preview and colors re-appeared.
When putting the same .dop back and rebuilt preview the preview kept its colors.
Anyway - I'm slowly picking up speed.
Are there some information about what settings are parsed and included in the different application elementary support?
