HCS - do you mean i should use "Map to correct physical folder" option at the very top of the directory that lists drive letter/name and some cryptic code numbers?
Or do that further down the tree like at the top of my "Images" folder?
A bit nervous about doing it lest I lose my keywords.

Moved to new PC and new Hard Drive - verify folders?
I recently upgraded my Windows PC and hard drive.
Backed up images from old drive D: and restored to new PC and new drive D: using MS Backup.
Backed up and restored PhotoSupreme data base and restored to new machine.
PS now tells me I need to 'add images to the catalog' for every image on the new ...

Re: idimager.thumbs.db - 40 GB size?
@toomas, when using a smaller size then the database can't grow :) less data still means less space. Are you sure the database is compacted?
Under the "tools" menu there is an item to "Compact the Database". That is what I used.
I just now discovered the separate item under "Tools" "Preferences ...

Re: idimager.thumbs.db - 40 GB size?
I too was dismayed at the size of the thumbs DB.
So I just went thru the process described here of: reducing the preview size from the default to 720, rebuilding thumbs, compacting DB.
My thumbs.db INCREASED in size. So much for that idea.

Re: What are Portfolios and Collections?
Thus, I again say, I can see no reason for Portfolios. Simplify the interface and get rid of them by allowing Collections to be top level containers. Hert, this is my suggestion. It is up to you whether you see merit.

Perhaps the Portfolio / Collection feature is not what you need for ...

What are Portfolios and Collections?
I have searched the manual and other resources but cannot find basic definitions of features.
Like the difference between a "collection" and a "portfolio".
Can someone point me to the right place please?
I want to select a group of images for a client to review, mark them as being in that group ...

Re: Deleted Catalog folder
Hert,
That is probably true - I may have turned it off when I imported a large number of sub-folders and then removed those that are not important for cataloging. I will restore the warnings. Perhaps this a warning that should not be permitted to 'turn off' because of the serious implications ...

Deleted Catalog folder
I just accidentally removed a large folder from the index. I hit 'delete' thinking I was deleting a file in the root of the folder. Apparently, I was in the folder pane and the folder immediately disappeared. No warning of any kind. Why is there no chance to 'cancel' like with deleting files? Now I ...
