Sort a Collection

I have figured out that I can sort images in a collection by dragging and dropping into a manual sort order, but how do I then sort them any other way? I read some older posts that talk about a "View Menu", but I can't find any View menu or any Sort option. I'm using build 2067. What am I missing? I ...

Re: Collections vs. Events

Maybe this is too simplistic, but in this Birthday situation, couldn't you solve the problem by using a combination of the Description with the Catalog labels? For example, if the Description for all the images from John Smith's birthday party said "John S Birthday", and you had a catalog People ...

Re: Importing / Numbering / Renumbering

Using a sequential number will guarantee uniqueness, but not reproducibility, as I found in the issue that started this discussion. PSU will keep incrementing the sequence number, so if you import the same set of images twice, the second set will have new sequence numbers and so unique names - but ...

Re: Importing / Numbering / Renumbering

I don't think there is one perfect rule that you could use for every camera that would guarantee uniqueness and reproducibility
Using a sequential number accomplishes that goal. If you're shooting with multiple cameras, the sequential number by itself will not accurately indicate the order the ...

Re: Capture One Edits

Have you tried opening C1 directly, not from PSU, and working in a Session? Sessions have .cos files; Catalogs don't. Edits made to images in Sessions should always be visible in PSU; edits made to images in C1 Catalogs will never be visible in PSU.

I suggest you try creating a C1 Session, editing ...

Re: Capture One Edits

... However, this is a stumbling block, so if PSU can work with sessions, i.e. Capture One .cos files, please could somebody guide me how to set it up?

Not much to set up. In CO, create a session, or choose one to open if you already have one. Close CO.

Now, from PSU, select more than 1 (one ...

Re: Capture One Edits

Paul,

A better approach would be to create a renaming rule that will result in the file being renamed exactly the same any time it is imported.

Here is the naming rule I use when importing from my Nikon D610:

TGS_D610_%yy%mm%dd_%FileName{right=3}.%FileExtension

Instead of using a sequence ...

Re: Capture One Edits

Thanks, Tim. I don't expect you (or anyone else here) to answer all my questions. Just venting a little frustration, I guess.

I feel little foolish about the deletes. It's very simple, and about the same thing as any other program I use on the Mac.

As to duplicate imports from a card, it depends ...

Re: Capture One Edits

I understand your point. If you are shooting tethered, though, you definitely want to shoot directly into C1 then import your images into PS. I don't think C1 is a very effective repository, and it certainly doesn't compare to the functionality of PS in that regard, so I'd prefer not to have C1 as ...

Re: Capture One Edits

Alternatively, you can start in C1 if your images are already on disk or if you are importing from a card. Open C1, Create a New Session, name it and click the Import icon. C1 creates a Session folder with the name you gave it, with several subfolders. One of these is the Capture folder which is the ...

Re: Can't see DxO edits

Well, turns out I was right - I was doing something wrong. I had made what I thought were radical changes in DxO that I couldn't miss in PS. I changed the White Balance to Sodium Lamp for an extreme color cast and rotated the image upside down. Can't miss, right?

Looks like PS doesn't see the white ...

Re: Capture One Edits

PSU works with Cos files. When you configure C1 to not write Cos files then PSU can't see the edits.
I don't think it is possible to configure C1 to write or not write .cos files - at least, I don't know of any way to control it.

C1 can manage images in 2 ways, in Sessions, which seem to be ...
