reverse GEO lookup

I noticed an odd behavior when using GPS coordinates in an image to reverse-lookup localities.
The lookup generally finds the country, but for some reason does not add the Country code, why?

I am not sure if the CountryCode is supplied. Many years ago I solved it a little differently - I created all the countries manually with the assignment to continent. For every country where I know I have already been or plan to go, I have entered the country code under “Apply detail profile” -> Image Content -> Country Code.
