A set of stacks without tops?

Post by jwiegley »

I've noticed in the States pane that I can view Stacked items, and Stack Top Items, but can I view "Stacked items whose stack has no top"? This would help me because I like to first select all stack in a file group, and then afterward go through and select tops for anything that I didn't choose a top for right away...

And a further question: when viewing an image after double-clicking (or in the light table), in there a keybinding to quickly the currently viewed image as the top of its stack?

You can use States -> From Repository -> In Stack without Top Item" to get a list of all stacks without a top item.

There's no keyboard shortcut to manually assign one image as a stack's top item.
If you have setup your stacking rules with a top item detection then you should be able to select these images and repeat the stack detection which will also set its top item. Try it on a few stacks first.

There's no automatic rule by which the tops could be chosen, since I often shoot at multiple apertures and then pick which I like best based solely on subjective criteria.

A key that I could press while moving from photo to photo during review would be just lovely.

Yeahh, you can filter for "Stacks with no top" by using the States pane to identify stacks without a top item selected. This can help streamline your workflow.
