THM not working

At the beginning of the year I learned about THM thumbnails, but I had problems making them work.

We're now at the end of the year and, in spite of all the attempts I made, they still don't work. To be more precise, I found that only sometimes one works — in the screenshots a collection of 17 photos shown in Capture One and in PhotoSupreme — only 20210301-0058 works. All the thumbnails have been generated a few moments ago at the same time (see third screen capture) and I can't find any difference among them.

PSU should show you the content of the THM file. SO first verify that the THM file is how you want it to see in PSU. Your screenshots don't show the content of the THM files.

If the THM file is correct then manually update the thumbs in PSU (Cmd+Opt+T for the selected thumbs) to make sure that it reflects the THM file.

Here we go with the THM contents. For what concerns Cmd+Opt+T, I've been doing that for a year (multiple times for the whole catalog, and a few days ago again for the collection I'm showing), still I have the problem.

You could try to change the extension to uppercase? Though I don't think that will make a difference.

If that doesn't help then please contact support instead of asking the user community through the forum. Best to email and include a sample ARW/THM pair.

I didn't receive any feedback from support so far, hence I'm posting the latest news here. I've created a new database and reimported everything. It took most of the afternoon, but it dramatically changed the situation: now most of the thumbnails seem to work. After the import was complete there were still a good deal of thumbnails not working (completely random: in the same folder one was working, the next not working, then again working, etc...), but they were fixed by another run of "recreate thumbnails". At the moment I've spotted some apparent problems, but most of them were related to missing THM files (from the past years). I'll spend the next days carefully inspecting the database.

I think this should clarify that there were absolutely no problem in my THM files (below the screenshot for the same folder of my above post: now everything is ok and THM files have not changed), but there is a race or such in the algorithm that decides whether to use an existing THM or falling back to the default strategy.

I didn't work on my photos until a few days ago. Exceptions mentioned in my previous message were related to a few THM files not being generated. So it seems that re-importing the photos has fixed the problem.
