Ctrl+0 to remove Color Label does not work anymore (V.6.5.0.3955)

Post by tumirnix »

Hello,
I think after the last update the possibility to remove a color label with pressing Ctrl+0 does not work anymore.
I can set 5 labels with Ctrl+1 up to Ctrl+5, but I see after clicking Ctrl+0 always again "Purple" (i.e. the same as Ctrl+5).
Can anyone reproduce it?
Thanks in advance

Hello again,
after some investigation I thought, that the internal name of the field has been changed, because I use a relatively old own "Editor":
My own editior with wrong rating and color label.
My own editior with wrong rating and color label.

You can see, that the rating and color label on the left is not visible on the right.
Setting the rating with the keys 0,1,...,5 is still working.

So I switched to the "Advanced Editor", but also here I see a mismatch:
The "Advanced" editor
The "Advanced" editor

Beside this I wonder, how could I edit my own editor with the current version. In a first try I did not find the place?

Best regards

Hello Martin,
for me it works as expected, i.e. Ctrl+0 removes the color tag. But I generally only use the number keypad, because I don't need Ctrl then (Ctrl+0 = /).
In my German PSU version and the advanced profile, the headings are in English (Beschreibung = Descriptions) and the following in German (Stichwort, Bewertung, Farb-Kennzeichnung, etc.).
This is different with you.

In the preferences (Catalog) you can configure the string that is written to the metadata for each of the colors. Please check that you have those configured correctly.

Yes, at one point those field names changed in the XMP specs (xap:Label became xmp:Label, same for rating), and subsequently this change was also implemented in PSU. Not recently but about 8 years ago.

There is no way to create or edit editors. Nor was this ever possible in Photo Supreme. You probably created your editor in the old IDImager software. The fact that such editor still works more than a decade later is pretty surprising. You should expect that at one point it will completely stop working after some a large change in the underlying model is made.

If you want to remain future proof then use the PSU editors instead. You can use custom fields (Info Panel) to create fields for your own need.

Hi Friedrich and Hert,
after some restarts the un-assignments with the Ctrl+0 seems to work again. I do not know why.

Nevertheless I thank you for you comments. The "/" on the Num-Pad was new for me.
For the above screenshots I started PSU with the English UI (cmd line option "-UL EN"), but some of the old UI settings are not translated. Therefore there's a a mix of German in English.
As Hert mentioned I have probably some relicts in my configuration, because I started with IDimager version 4 (in 2008, i.e. 11 years ago).
Nevertheless even in the "Advanced" Editior the "Color Label" ("Farbkennzeichnung") is not displayed when set via Ctrl+1,... or Ctrl+5. When selecting the color in the Editors Select-Box then it works.
I wonder what Hert means with correctly configured colors in the configuration. I have currently:

By the way: Is there a translation issue in the Select-Box for the version recognition?

Thanks again for the fast reply

Check the color names in that page you shared. That is the string that is written as the xmp:Label when you assign that color.

Keep in mind that when you change the string then you need to reassign the color label to get the changed string in the metadata. xmp:Label is a free text field and is allowed to contain anything.

PS. Macro Commands (like %FileName or %FileSize or %secondsbetween or any other %...) are always in English
