View setting icon disable when Import to atalog / More settings

Post by kalain »

Hi,

when Import to Catalog (Shift+Ctrl+I) and then select 'More Settings', View icon (Up right) is disabled !!
I'd like to sort items by descending name and also be able to change thumbnail size.

Is there a reason why this icon is disabled while import to catalog ?

All settings in the View button relate to images in the catalog. In the Importer, the images are not yet in the catalog and so using the View settings won't work. Actually it would be better to have the button removed in the Importer instead of disabled.

There’s no scaling on import. During import you get the thumb that is read from the exif. That’s never bigger than 180px (off the top of my head). So scaling doesn’t bring much. Reading full images to downscale to present as a thumb is too slow and no option.

Related: just a bump that a long time ago I entered a Mantis feature request to be able to filter on the import screen so as to show only images not already imported. I use big cards and often keep images on the cards after downloading as an extra security, but that makes it hard to view the new images the next time I import. Not a big deal though.
