EXIF versions 0230 and PSU 0221 - Difference

Post by Pharoah »

The EXIF version of my original new photos, taken with my 5D MK3, have EXIF Version 0230
After importing the original photos to PSU my metadata have EXIF version 0221.
In IDI5 the EXIF Version remains at 0230.

Why does PSU downgrade the EXIF version?
What is the difference?
Do I lose information after importing?

Thx for help, because it is not easy to compare the before and after metadata

PhotoSupreme writes the EXIF version number it supports, IDimager doesn't write the version number, but knows up to 2.2.

2.3 is a new update of the specs and has some new fields introduced. The fact that your camera writes a 2.3 version number doesn't automatically mean that they also write (some of) those new fields, it just means that the vendor checked that what they write also complies with the 2.3 specs.
The differences between 2.2 and 2.3 of the specs can be found in their documents.
