It's obvious I don't have a use for it (my main computer is a notebook with an SSD + 1TB internal drive; it always goes where I go )Mike Buckley wrote:In Photo Supreme, it's called Travel Mode.DirkS wrote:off-line mode
BTW: a year ago even Hert still called it offline mode http://forum.idimager.com/viewtopic.php?t=22934

Good to hear from you, Dirk!
I'm not surprised. Don't get me going on the subject of inaccurate documentation of Supreme V2 that is acknowledged by Hert to be inaccurate.DirkS wrote: BTW: a year ago even Hert still called it offline mode http://forum.idimager.com/viewtopic.php?t=22934
Re: Laptop as primary PSU home?
A post on (any) forum is to be considered less accurate as time goes by and the older it gets A year ago it was still called OFFLINE mode in Photo Supreme, in a release early 2014 the name was changed to TRAVEL mode. Someone who never uses this wouldn't have noticed.
@Mike, I read a lot of things and I can only wish that I remembered everything. Did you report any such inaccuracies to support? If so, can you point me to the support ticket in Mantis?

Aha... that was while I was offline (but not travelling); living in the reedbeds of NorfolkIDimager wrote:A year ago it was still called OFFLINE mode in Photo Supreme, in a release early 2014 the name was changed to TRAVEL mode. Someone who never uses this wouldn't have noticed.

Re: Laptop as primary PSU home?
Thanks Dirk & Mike - I've just read the Travel Mode description in the Cataloging Manual. This mode seems very useful, no matter how it's called.
My inquisitive mind still wonders: let's say I take my laptop on a trip and I don't have all my catalog images available (they might be on an external hard-disk, left home), but I want to import and catalog new photos. Can I sync the metadata only in these images? Do I need to activate the Travel Mode when only some of the image files are missing? Does PSU handle well missing (offline) image files in normal (online) mode, even when those share common labels with the online images?
I guess I could always create a brand new catalog on every trip and not worry about the Travel Mode - but I would personally do that only if:
1) there was a easy way to import the existing catalog structure from the master catalog (such that I could reuse my previous labels)
2) there was a straightforward (fast, reliable, supported) way to merge back the new catalog to the master catalog

Re: Laptop as primary PSU home?
You cannot import while in travel mode. If you disengage travel mode, you could import the images with different import settings to the notebook while on a trip. When back at home, relocate the images to the external hard disk and tell PSU to
However, i would enjoy my trip, and do the cataloging when I'm back at home.

Re: Laptop as primary PSU home?
I didn't report one set of inaccuracies because you publicly reported them to me. It was bad enough that I wasted my time due to known inaccuracies that had not been corrected. In that situation I shouldn't have to use even more of my time to report them in Mantis. If you're interested in correcting them, I'm referring to the search properties listed on pages 8 and 9 in the Search Manual that indicate use of uppercase letters when apparently mixed-case letters should be used.IDimager wrote:@Mike, Did you report any such inaccuracies to support? Re: Laptop as primary PSU home?
Apparently you have some natural resistance against Mantis. Please don't waste any of your time, that's the last I would want.
I don't know where the negativity comes from.
Now you make up your own truth here because this was NOT a known inaccuracy. I wasn't even aware of this discrepancy between the software and the manual until you first made mention of it and I subsequently looked into your issue. And I didn't "report it to you", but I "confirmed your finding", there's a big difference. But apparently you expect that things are automatically corrected as soon as you mention it somewhere. At the same time you refuse to follow the outlined procedures to log a ticket for issues so that it won't be forgotten about and a change can be planned.due to known inaccuracies that had not been corrected

Ok, I've saved everyone's time (for the Search Bar issue, at least) - please see Mantis ticket 2446: http://bugs.idimager.com/view.php?id=2446
P.S.: Give me the source and I'll correct the Search manual too!

Back on topic (somewhat): Lippe, thanks for the clarifications. Your advice about enjoying the trips without worrying about cataloging might actually be the most valuable! An ideal pleasure trip should be so relaxing that one might even forget what a DAM system is...
