Category Search

How can I search for a category (e.g. for editing) without concurrent assignment to at least one image (as this was possible in IDI)? I f no image is selected, then there is no search option available.

On Category View - Ctrl F on/ when the the Catalog Tree is displayed (By category)

Or Right Click - Find on any Category Label in the Category Tree.

PSU 64: "Catalog label" find doesn't work or I handle it wrong.

I prefer the category search by IDimager 5 Pro. It was hell fast and useful. Starting typing already start the search and shown of all labels. With Photo Supreme it slow down a lot.

Yes: In IDimager I start to type and the results are shown immediately and I just have to type/click on it. Very fast, intuitive and -if there are a lot of similar keywords or I don't know, if it already exist and how I wrote it exactly- the suggestions help without a lot of trying. I missing this feature in other DAM-Solutions.

Edit: The suggestions shows also the hierarchical structures.

It works like that in PSUx32 (1.5.0.72) but the x64 version seems to be broken. You should enter on Mantis bug tracker.

thank you for your advice. I already used Mantis, because I guess I found out what is wrong (special signs like ä, ö, ü in the labels/metatags).

Menace; I asked if Ctrl+F is slowing you down, I didn't ask how it compared to IDimager.

It doesn't work like that in PSU, not is it supposed to. In PSU you need to press Ctrl+F to find a catalog label or, and this is what will help you, you use the search bar to type in the name.

But to know, if some workflow is "slow", you have to compare it to other software.

For example, i categorized my work files in a lot of different science labels (like hominidenevolution, Homo ergaster, Homo erectus, Homo sapiens, Homologie, homogen). After 1-2 month I get new files. Every file can fit a lot of different science labels. In Idimager I start to type "hom" an get a lot of suggestions --> I can see the hierarchical structure --> One click --> ready. This feature (and his speed) is nearly perfect.

I know, the PSU is not the same, but I hope it is ok to say what feature will be maybe better for someone; even if all other customers won't agree.

And that is exactly what happens in the 32 bit version of PSU (lower part of screen shot below) using "CTRL+F" (as shown) or the Search Bar. In the 64 bit version (top of screen shot) the suggestions never appear
