Selecting a Version for Display
How can I define the "Album Display" version as the option to display. Right now I can only display the main version and if I want to see the "Album Display" version I can only do it image by image. I cannot find a way to define the version I want to be displayed --- similar to the way it was done in V5.
Re: Selecting a Version for Display
You can't select a placeholder for display. The main version is the display version.
Switch your main and album version in IDI if you need the album version to become the main version.

Re: Selecting a Version for Display
How do I make the switch -- my main version has been NEF files and the album display a jpeg version (this from V5). I keep my NEFs in an external disk, and the jpegs in my laptop. I really need PS to display the jpegs.
This issue brings a comment. One feature that IDImager offers with differentiated advantage is the possibility of referencing versions while keeping them in different files systems (this cannot be done in apperture and Lightroom). Will PS eventually will have the functionality that V5 had?

In ID5:Alejandro Garza wrote:How do I make the switch -- my main version has been NEF files and the album display a jpeg version (this from V5). I keep my NEFs in an external disk, and the jpegs in my laptop. I really need PS to display the jpegs.
1) Turn on the Script Launcher Bar (Ctrl+F9)
2) In the Catalog Explorer >> Catalog Labels , press the orange dot "Show all images in catalog..."
3) Select all images.
4) In the Script Launcher Bar select: Direct Execute >> Version Scripts.. >> Swap Version Holders for Version Sets
5) Choose the relevant Version Placeholders to swap. Press Go

AFAIK PS can do exactly the same.Alejandro Garza wrote: One feature that IDImager offers with differentiated advantage is the possibility of referencing versions while keeping them in different files systems (this cannot be done in apperture and Lightroom). Re: Selecting a Version for Display
OK -- PS can do that ... however in V5 you can define which version to display. What I ment to say is that you left out of PS (from V5) one important detail of a very important functionality. Let me ask again, Are you planning to give PS the ability to define the version to display?.
I did an extensive review of image data bases and you really have a superior product. PS has improved performance, but I hate to loose functionalities from V5.

Re: Selecting a Version for Display
The ability to choose which of the place holders to use as a display version is not planned. Use the Main version for that purpose. So there is a way to define the version to display: set it as the main version.Alejandro Garza wrote:Let me ask again, Are you planning to give PS the ability to define the version to display?
As Lars explained, in IDimager you can move your display version to become the main version.

Re: Selecting a Version for Display
An other way of doing this:
Do one time:
Go to Catalog; Version Placeholder
Select the version you want to display
Make this version a Favorite
How to use
Next time you want to see eg a category drag it into the dynamic search
Add the version placeholder to the dynamic search as well
And press the run button
Hope this helps

Re: Selecting a Version for Display
This tip works very well. However, to display a version set in a regular manner it will be better to make sure that this set is the main version.
I still need to change in IDI V5 the main version to be my jpegs, so that on a regular basis I get to see them. And I will set up a placeholder for the NEF´s. The tip to include the version in the dynamic search will be very useful to see the NEFs --
Thanks for the tip
