Favourites panel

Post by Luke_215 »

I'm still playing with the trial version, and like a lot of others with experience of IDI I'm wondering what it is I'm looking at a lot of the time - but as I use it more and more I'm recognizing both what it is (a plain catalog package) and how well it does what it does. I have a couple of questions, although I'm sure there will be more eventually...

Firstly, why is the text so truncated in the favourites panel. Each entry seems to be limited to around 8 characters, so I have: "Impor...", "Out o..." and so on listed. Not sure why.
Why is it so fiddly to add images to portfolios? Copy, change navigation panel, paste in portfolio. Really?
Can I change the colour scheme? Please? What is it with all these catalog packages I'm looking at and slate gray?

Other than that I'm starting to get to grips with it and I'm starting to enjoy it a bit more than I did initially.

Good luck

You probably have the left Catalog panel set to its smallest width. Drag it a little wider to see more details. If you don't have enough screen real estate to allow a wider panel than hovering the items in the Favorites panel should display the full caption in a hint box.

Do you have a suggestion for improvement? In the next update I've already added that you can quickly store the Image Basket as a new portfolio collection or add the IB to an existing portfolio collection. Hope that makes this a bit easier to do.

It's neutral, and the dark gray is to make your photos stand out more. You can't change the colour scheme.

Thank you. Als, please do continue to make suggestions when you think something could improve.

OK, quite like the idea of getting into portfolios via the IB if necessary - a right click option would be nicer, to add to an existing portfolio. ho hum, we'll see how that goes!

Favorites, definitely not working, I can even get several columns of truncated entries by dragging the panel out a bit - see attachment

That grey! It's so funereal..!

cheers, Luke

I prefer darker layouts myself. However, having the option to select from several would be a welcome addition.

I haven't yet trialled PSU, as I'm waiting until I have an amount of free time when I can properly trial it. But it strikes me that some pointers on "if you did x in IDI5 then this is how you do it in PSU" would be extremely useful given what Luke and others have alluded to.

Maybe even a thread on this topic would be of use, covering the most used features. Or is there sufficient help in PSU? The comments would suggest not?

I understand some of the things in IDI that I use a lot - framer and html generation in particular - are missing from PSU and that does not make it a happy match for me. But still some conversion guidance would surely help me and others, since convert or leave we now/eventually must.
