Build 2025.2.1.7892 available
Build 2025.2.1.7892 available
This build completes the second and final phase of the major catalog database restructuring. Includes a database
upgrade.
After the upgrade, it’s recommended to compact the database. Together, Phases 1 and 2 have reduced the catalog database’s file size by about 20%, and larger test catalogs (500K+ images) have seen reductions of around 40%. The benefits of this reduction increase with the size of the catalog.
As always, other improvements and fixes.

Great! How much file size reduction did you get (previous plus this database upgrade)

Re: Build 2025.2.1.7892 available
Lets see;
Cat was 56,452,112Kb on 28th June, currently 55,191,272Kb Ah correction I hadn't run the final compaction on the Server! Its now 40,225,796Kb
Thumbs was 67,776128Kb on the 28th June, currently 67,894,336Kb
There have been a few changes & additions between the dates but no more than 15 images and quite a few metadata changes across the entire DB.
So with the corrected figures that's 28.7% reduction in size of the main Catalogue file.

June 28 you already ran phase 1. Any idea what it was before that?

Lets see 2nd June backup shows Cat at 56,325,416Kb not sure what date the first update arrived but .7865 I installed 27th June, but there would have been quite a few additional images added since even that date.

Thanks a lot, Hert!
My cat is now ~28% smaller:
7892: 5.83 GB
7865: 5.15 GB
7820: 4.16 GB

That's great! You both got 28% reduction, which I think is a good result.
The large SQLite test catalog I use contains just over 720,000 images and originally took up 71 GB. After running Phase 1 and Phase 2 optimizations, it’s now down to 40 GB: a reduction of about 43%. The bigger the catalog, the greater the potential for space savings.

Re: Build 2025.2.1.7892 available
I only managed a 23% compression with a catalogue of 452,695 images. I obviously need to add more labels to my images! Still, a very nice surprise to get some space back. Thanks Hert.
7895: 22.8 GB

Re: Build 2025.2.1.7892 available
I seem to have hit the jackpot. In contrast to what you say that "bigger is better", my modest catalog of 31K images went from 3.99 to 2.37 GB for the phase 1 upgrade for a 40% drop. Now at 2.54, the phase 2 upgrade reduced it a further 22% to 1.99
Re: Build 2025.2.1.7892 available
In total you went from 3.99 to 1.99GB, that's ~50%. Makes me happy

From 21GB to 14GB. And very fast. Very nice. 112.000 images.
Re: Build 2025.2.1.7892 available
Nice gain as well!
That is something that I didn't mention but should be very noticeable. And very fast.
