Easy Filtering?

PSu's searching and filtering capabilities are unmatched and way beyond my needs. Still I sometimes feel, that easy filtering tasks I would need, are hard to achieve. Example?

For cataloging & detailled labelling I often try to segment the picture-list in a first step:

1. just show pictures taken by a certain camera model (eg. cell or phone or the serious stuff )
2. then I want to narrow down the result by ticking a second label, eg. selecting a region/geographic label I have attached directly after importing (in the picture from the Chinese city Xian

But instead of working as an AND filter logic, an OR ist applied automatically - keeping the pictures shown the same as in step 1. And no possibility to change from OR to AND. In 80% of my searches I would need an AND - of course that preference may differ from person to person...
Now wait, there's a menu entry "Filter by advanced Search" available, offering an ALL or ANY choice. Perfect! But then, why do I have to enter my search criterias in the dialog again? Why not offer the possibility of "taking over the cvurrently applied filter settings"?

Am I overlooking something? Any suggestion for achieving my simple goal in an easy & quick way? Thx in advance!

For that sort of thing you'd be better off using the Dynamic Search panel.

At its simplest, just find the camera you want from Details » Technical » Camera Model and hit the space bar to select it. Then go to Categories » Places » Asia » China » Shaanxi » Xian (or wherever) and hit the space bar again. Then run your query using the arrow I've outlined in red below:

I think the easiest is with Advanced Search (in a filter like you do, or even better: without using the separate filter bar)

"Filter By Advanced Search" is an *additional filter* that combines with the other filter bar settings.

I would not even use the Filter Bar...go straight to Advanced Search (Ctrl+F or Cmd+F on Windows) and find whatever you need...and it offers Live Searches, meaning you instantly see the results as you construct the search.

Thanks Mke for your suggestion. Involving the Dynamic Search panel (DSP) will do the job, but won't make my life easier. DSP is the most generalistic search approach and for my task to do I also would have to segment first my pic collection with the help of DSP. But in my case this already has been achieved via the Catalog Bar (eg. selecting a specific folder or portfolio). Using the DSP would make my personal labeling-workflow more complicated.

Still I struggle with the result - some pictures are labeled with "Xi'an" - "Filter By Details-dialog contains":

• Catalog Label Name contains Xi'an --> no results?
• Catalog Label Name equals Xi'an --> no results?
• Catalog Label Name contains Xi' --> no results?
• Catalog Label Name contains Xi --> everything fine , PSu finds all correspondig items

I would have assumed that all four search option return the same result?
Maybe it's better to remove the aposthrophe within the catalog label?

By the way Hert, may I also request a small change within the Filter-menu?

If the stored favorites from the Dynamic Sear panel exceeds PSu's window height, the menu entries on the bottom of the menu just can be reached via scrolling:

I would ask you to put the menu entries framed 1+2 (at least the 1) on top of the menu, directly after "Filter By Advanced Search". Would save me some scrolling - Thx.
