I’m having an abundance of problems while testing the v2025 version. My PS catalog runs fine under v2024, on an M2 Mac Studio (with 64GB of memory). I downloaded the v2025 trial version and installed it on an M1 MacBook Air (16 GB RAM) running Ventura 13.7.2. I also downloaded the Ollama app and the Llava model. I copied my existing catalog onto an external SSD and opened it in Travel Mode while attached to the laptop (since the laptop did not have access to the photos).
I tried to use Face Recognition, which worked well until I labelled a face for which there was no existing label. Trying to create a new label for that person crashed the program, very briefly displaying a dialog titled “Application Exception…” Trying to re-open the catalog seems to have put me back into whatever process was problematic and once again caused the crash with the same Application Exception dialog. I was effectively locked out of the application.
A similar problem happened when using the Ollama AI model. I selected an image thumbnail and ran the AI (un-checking the automatic processing). This seems to have run well but trying to apply the results (or even look at the Categories to inspect the “AI Labels” that may have been created) once again caused an instant crash with a similar Application Exception dialog.
What in the world is happening here? Is this a user error on my part? Is my laptop not up to snuff? I would love to upgrade, but I need to know I’m not digging my own grave.
An abundance of issues…
Re: An abundance of issues…
Problem solved by Build 7404. Emails back and forth with Hert regarding the crashes over the past few days helped identify the problem, and the latest build addressed the issue(s). Thanks to Hert for his responsiveness!
