v2025 build 2025.0.2.7404 (A.64bit) Mac Studio
SOME, but not all of photos will have a colored line under the thumbnail, which is not a color flag. Photos in the same folder, same camera, same date etc will contain different colored lines...or none at all. I have been through the manuals looking for this, but have apparently missed the explanation. Also, inspection of the details panel has not revealed any insight (at least to me).
Appreciate some guidance here.

what does colored line under thumbnail represent
Re: what does colored line under thumbnail represent
The colored lines represent images that are part of stacks. Each stack is given a different color (as far as I know, this is done more or less randomly by PS) so that the different stacks can be identified by those colors. If you look above the thumbnails, you'll find a little "stack" icon. If you click on it, it will probably highlight (indicating that the group of images being displayed is showing stacked images as a stack rather than as individual images). Each of those groups of images with the colored lines will now be grouped into a single thumbnail, and a translucent number is displayed as an overlay (indicating how many images are contained within the stack).
Just how the images got stacked is another issue. You may have done this manually, or it may have been done on import. For me, personally, I do not ask Photo Supreme to stack images automatically on import. But I DO have PS display existing stacks as a single thumbnail (the stack icon is highlighted by default) so that, when I create them, they are grouped together. I create stacks for things like focus merges, HDR brackets, and so forth.
Long story short, those colored lines represent member images for stacks, and each stack is represented by a different color.

Thanks. This is extremely helpful to understand. I do not "ask" PSu to create stacks, but I do see it running during import as an activity. This may turn out to be useful now that I understand what it means.
