Thank you Hert.

This is probably my tenth paid upgrade, so thank you for keeping up with the software over the years. I'm happy to support it and have found it incredibly useful over the last 15 years or so.

Here's a few issues I'm seeing with this release so far.

I'm on an M1 Pro MacBook with 32 GB RAM, running Sequoia 15.3.

Photo Supreme build 2025.0.0.7351 (A.64bit)

Any sort of menu navigation brings up the spinning beach ball for a few seconds. Makes using the program very painful. I've restarted a few times and compacted the database yet it still persists.

There seems to be a re-dating bug I've noticed. When doing "Hand Entered" and putting the hours/minutes/seconds to 12:00:00 PM, it throws an exception error and changes it to 1:00:00 PM. To get around the error I have to enter it as 11:00:00 AM, bump it up to 12:00:00 and then change the AM to PM. It asks for this to be sent in, and I always choose the option to send it to you.

When renaming, I have a renaming rule I always use. I'll select the pictures I want to rename, right click > Operations > Rename Files and it will bring up the renaming system and do its thing. But now with PS 2025, it only does that when I select multiple photos. It won't do it when I select just one. It will make the photo's name editable but not allow me to select the renaming rule. I have to select multiple images to get the renaming rule option.

But as I said, I'm super appreciative of the effort you put into this software, and I look forward to supporting it for many more years!

Has anybody been able to workout how to choose a specific model within the Ollama AI process?
I started with the smallest model llava:latest and it seems to work, however I have also pull'ed the largest model llava:34b model but don't seem able to select either a specific model or having removed the llava:latest PSU then seems to think that there is no model available despite it being listed.

EDIT: Answer using the CLI;
C:\Users\Geoff>ollama list
NAME ID SIZE MODIFIED
llava:latest 8dd30f6b0cb1 4.7 GB 3 hours ago
llava:34b 3d2d24f46674 20 GB 18 hours ago

C:\Users\Geoff>ollama cp llava:34b llava
copied 'llava:34b' to 'llava'

C:\Users\Geoff>ollama list
NAME ID SIZE MODIFIED
llava:latest 3d2d24f46674 20 GB 4 seconds ago
llava:34b 3d2d24f46674 20 GB 18 hours ago

Thank you for your support!
Had my database ugraded after starting the application. Result is syncing doesn't work anymore. Ctrl+S doesn't do anything, the red "unsynced" dot won't disappear.
How you describe it, I would expect that these files don't exist on disk.
You can check that by right click -> Locate in Finder (or Windows Explorer).
If the file does exist on the file system, then please contact support.

EDIT; Another option is that you have recently replaced a physical drive in the computer. In that can, check in Folders if the root folder has a red icon. If so, right click -> Map to the correct physical path.

That sounds like a virus scanner which scans the Catalog folder. If you have a virus scanner installed then make sure to exclude the catalog folder from it.

The AI feature is very nice. I love the image descriptions. One thing I am probably missing is how to get AI to apply the meta data tags to the images. It only seems to apply the title and description. If I select a single image it gives suggested tags and I can select them but if I run with multiple images there seems to be no way to get the tags applied.

Thank you, Hert, for your quick reply! I really appreciate your dedication with Photo Supreme and its users.

I will need to get in touch with support, since the files actually do exist, and the root folder is OK. I had a similar problem a few yers back (2019-ish) which remained unsolved for a longer while, after which syncing came back to working allof a sudden (in my impression). I'll tell that support, anyway.

To be clear, I did *not* need this update because I am now within epsilon of being perfectly happy with version 2024. However... I bought the upgrade because Hert rocks. I'm sure that I'll integrate a feature or two into my workflow but, in the end, Hert rocks and that is reason enough.

If they are allocated automatically and not under human control then the labels appear under the Category - "AI Labels" rather than as human selected Labels under the main Category titles.

I don't have a virus scanner. The closest thing is a backup program, but the /Library file path is excluded. This includes the folder where the catelog resides.

This issue wasn't present with PS 2024.

I will submit this and the other issues to the address you provided.

My update has started, too.

Any examples into how long it took to update in a ratio format...
eg, "1hr per 100,000 images"

There are some changes during this upgrade that depend on the computer configuration. Drive speed matters a lot. And for this upgrade the CPU also matters because during the upgrade it has to calculate the sharpness for every single image. Also, the larger you have configured your previews to be, the longer the update takes as PSU will have to load every single one of them during the upgrade.

On an average modern PC with a fast SSD that keeps the catalog files, and a powerful processor, and an average number of assets (~100,000), and using the default 1440px preview size, I don't expect that the upgrade takes longer than an hour.

Tip; you can make the sharpness visible with a custom thumb line like the one below:

Code: Select all

Sharp: %ImageSharpness{encode=html}
Here's a sample
sharpness.png
sharpness.png (567.13 KiB) Viewed 31970 times

You can also sort by Sharpness in the sorting options

I have purchased and installed the v2025 upgrade today. PS v2024 did just about everything that I wanted it to do, so I didn't feel a burning need to upgrade. However, I think the cost of the upgrade is a small price to pay to ensure this application continues to be developed and supported. I can't thank Hert enough for his patience with my, sometimes stupid, questions. Whenever I thought something couldn't be done, he invariably showed me a way to do it. Thank you again for continuing to develop PS, it may not be perfect, but it is pretty close.
