Thumnails not created, CR2 not displayed

Post by AMack »

Each time when opening PSU2024 (Win 10), the program tells me it is creating 71 thumbnails (out of my ~40,000 pics). It never succeeds, and those few thumbnail frames remain empty, while their developed JPG or TIF versions are shown. Opening those CR2s presents me with a blank screen.

I tried Ctrl+Alt+T to manually generate a thumbnail, but to no success; compacting the databases is always useful but no help in this respect; deleting a CR2 from the dabase, restarting PSU, and re-importing (Ctrl+Alr+K) the file also didn't change anything. It appears as if PSU can't get hold of or access the CR2 files whilst knowing they are there and allowong me labelling them and relating them to the developed pics.

Any ideas...? As for the technical context: Processing/developing is done with DXO PL; dabases are located on an SSD while the pcitures are stored on a mirrored HD. Thanks for your assistance!

Are you able to view the .cr2 files outside of PSU with other programs ?

Thanks your your reply! And yes, that's possible.

It seems my problem is the same as in [viewtopic.php?t=35849] -- sorry, hadn't seen it before posting -- where you've suggested a few tests. Actually, the Status search for "With Possible Corruption" displays the files (plus a few others, which don't appear to have a problem). So, what could be a way to "de-corrupt" them?

I've had a few like this a while ago but was able to clear them by various means like you have already tried, normally find that Tools|Build missing thumbnails has worked for me at times. I some times wonder if the OS is caching files and its the cache that is the problem rather than the files themselves, but not sure how I can actually prove this ..... Another thing I remember trying was moving the offending file to another directory in the OS and then scanning for Missing Files and then "Move files to folder" from within PSU.
