Using macOS Sequoia / PSu build 2024.2.2.6668 (A 64bit)....Each time I open PSu, more of my Categories are appearing as ADDITIONAL categories under Miscellaneous. I have repeatedly opened each of these Miscellaneous-new categories, highlighted the thumbnails and dragged them to their original main categories. Then I have deleted the Misc/Category, checked the "State" of the database and all seems normal until I exit and reopen PSU whereupon the same or different new subcategories appear Miscellaneous appear.
My Cataloging strategy is to only have two Miscellaneous categories, which are "Processed" and "Original". All photos in the database will be in one of those two Misc categories for obvious reasons. All of the photos also have their normal categories to include "Year", Places", People" "Events" etc.
I am frankly getting pretty frustrated with this issue and am hoping there may be a solution that I am missing. It makes me question the stability of the software if this isn't solvable via some lack of understanding on my part. Any and all suggestions welcome.
thanks

Categories being repopulated under Miscellaneous
Re: Categories being repopulated under Miscellaneous
Can you please post 2 screenshots?
1. how does it look after the start
2. how does it look when you move it as you want it to be

Before you notice this have you imported or verified?30west wrote: 26 Oct 24 19:13 Each time I open PSu, more of my Categories are appearing as ADDITIONAL categories under Miscellaneous.
Before you notice this have you used other programs on the photos?
In my direct experience, if I add/modify keywords in another program, this can occur.
If you are using programs to process the photos, these programs can mangle the metadata, even though you aren't modifying any of the metadata (keywords, location, ...).

Re: Categories being repopulated under Miscellaneous
YES...I think what was happening is that I was switching between PSu and ON1 and it was the apparent incompatibility of keyword metadata between the two that was altering what I was seeing in PSu.
I stabilized the issue by avoiding the use of ON1 (2025) on my main computer ( Mac Studio) to isolate the issue. Since I have avoided allowing ON1 to browse the folder of photos, the issue has not reoccurred.
So far, I have been unable to determine a way to use both programs with the same library of photos. A photo in PSu with keywords "2024" (under category "Years", key word "Denver" (under Category "Places / North America / Colorado / Denver), Keyword "John Doe" (under Category People) will show all of the FLAT keywords (2024 and Denver and Colorado and North America and John Doe) PLUS "Years>2024" and "People>John Doe" AND "Places>North America>Colorado>Denver" AND "Places>North America " AND "Places>North America>Colorado".
I will post this issue separately as a top level issue, so if you are able to offer suggestions, please address it there.....
thanks
