Software Error: Access violation

Post by JensSteyer »

Hi Hert, this is not the first time this error has occurred - it also occurs again in the new version:
I switch from "Categories" to "Folders" and mark several images and video clips > access violation.
I have sent you the log of the error message. I hope that helps, because this error (which does not occur often, but every now and then) is very annoying.

I have also Access Violations in version "2024.2.0.6516" when trying to
  • Re-date
  • Change the Author of
of one or more images.
Also saving the meta data to the images has no effect (perhaps this is related).
Neither re-opening PSU nor restarting the PC did help.
Any other ideas?

With the version "2024.2.0.6497" on my Laptop I do not have those issues. Was there something in the last update?

Best regards
Martin

Changes are all reported on https://whatsnew.idimager.com

In 6516 also giving this issue on the laptop?
Also try to compact your catalog.

Hi Hert,
thanks for the reply.

I tried the compact the database on the PC, but I get still Access Violations like
Information
Batch "Image Details" raised errors
2024-06-29 02:16:26-214 Batch: Image Details C:\d\img\2024\06f_USA_SiliconValley\20240627u102634_009.JPG: Access violation (0)
when trying to change details, e.g. the Location.

So far I used the laptop as backup for the PC to re-date or changing some image details. Therefore I fear a bit that after the update I have 2 non working installations.

Any other suggestions?

I'm a bit confused, that the "New in Photo Supreme v2024" page shows already a version 6519, but this is not offered by my version 6516.

Hello, I am also experiencing the "Access Violation" issue since about one week ago. For instance, when I change the date of an image

Also, Metadata changes seem not to be written in the image. I get no error but the red dot stays there. This happens with images stored in different external discs, so I don't think that the issue comes form my files being "locked for writing" in a certain disc.

I am running the latest 2024 version, 6531, on a MacBook Pro and I made no changes in my settings, at least by myself.

Does anybody else experience these two issues? Any suggestions?

Tanks a lot in advance,

I saw that a new minor version has been made available in the last mintues, 6536. I have installed it and the two issues mentioned above seem to have dissapeared.

++Thanks a lot Hert for your quick and effective responsiveness!

Many thanks also from my side. The version 6536 seems to solve the above mentioned Access Violation issues.
