Not Detecting Thumbnail

Post by OldRadioGuy »

Photo Supreme is not detecting the thumbnail in a native PhotoLine PLD file.

I added the .PLD file extension contained in a folder with ORF, JPG and the one PLD file to Photo Supreme via File Handling -> File Extension. Photo Supreme detects the file but shows a generic PLD icon. I viewed this same folder in XnViewMP. That app displays the embedded thumbnail for the PLD file.

For files that you add as an "Other File Extension", Photo Supreme calls the Operating System handler to build thumbnails. If Photoline comes with a Windows Shell Extension for their proprietary file extension PLD then you should be able to see thumbnails in Windows Explorer. And in that case you should also be able to see them in PSU.

That means there is a Shell Extension. Maybe a reinstall of that software is needed?

During install there is an option if you want to install preview in file explorer

My system is MacOS, not Windows. The install procedure is different, offering no options as described earlier. I deleted .PLD from file handling and checked then, but no display of the thumbnail nor the generic icon. I then restored .PLD to file handling. Photo Supreme then showed the thumbnail. So, all is well.

Thanks to all for the suggestions.
