How can I identify files with errant/missing thumbnails

Post by marklevine »

Ever since upgrading to 2024, I've been getting startup messages "Continuing the thumbnail building for NN files". I am now down to 13 files but I have no way of identifying which 13.

When I first upgraded, I had over 600 files with missing thumbnails but, slowly, I've fixed most of them bit by bit. Many were undated files which I found in the Timeline tab. Then I had a series of Catalog compact/restart iterations. Over time fewer files were highlighted but I'm stuck at 13. Any suggestions with next steps to get my database fixed up with no warning messages?

Hi, the same here. From some thousand now down to 269 files.
Just for interest please try the following:
- launch PSU
from the login dialog don't open your database but the standard PSU photosupreme.cat.db
( win: C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\IDimager Systems, Inc\Catalog )
That one normally is empty and will open without any messages.
Now:
- menu - Catalog - Select from Folder - ... look for your database and open it.
In my case now the database will open without any (error) messages.

I am in contact with Hert about that and the problems have decreased a lot and meanwhile there are no crashes any more.

Hi Geoff, thank you,
that helped to identify lots of corupt files, most of them in the same folder. For what reason ever they appeared with the label 'invalid EXIF data'.
I was able to restore form an old Backup, now it seems to be fine.

The other area to look is States|From Repository|With Possible Corruption this can find a number of other problems.

The script from the repository brought up a tab containing all my problematic images. THANK YOU!!! Lucky I'm down to only 13, so the process of checking and deleting files is manageable.
