v2024 frozen after launch

Hello,
I have just upgraded to v2024 from 2023, I opened and upgraded my test 2023 database and all seemed good but after a few seconds PS2024 has stopped responding, checking task manager it says ps2024 is active and using cpu (70% -75%) no ram change, also the Catalog folder has -shm and -wal files for test database cat.db and thumbs.db, the new files are very small 0KB - 49KB, a folder refresh does not indicate a size change at all, the db im using is small only 25003 files.

what should i do or how long should i wait for a response.

quick update:
task manager now stats that the ram usage has dropped from 116.8 to 51.2, but ps2024 is still unresponsive.

Yes I am suffering what seems to be a similar problem.
Backed up old database.
installed new release and upgraded database.
When the program finally opened, offered link to new manual and warning about licence trial - then the window closed on its own before I could click or do anything. On re-opening it hangs not responding. This cycle then repeats

yes, thats the same problem,

the ram usage has now dropped to 3.1 mb and im hoping ps2024 will respond once it hits 0mb, not looking forward to trying this on my main db as its 22.2gb

Odd l have put it on high-power tower and very old laptop and no problems so far, both are w10. Ran binary verify and backed up every thing.

Mine's doing it on a Win11 laptop with a small single user database, haven't tried it yet on the Win10 main machine that's still backing up !
Loaded the licence now but it still closes after about 3-5 seconds, then hangs not responding until I kill it then the cycle repeats, so there maybe some service or other routine left running until its killed.

Just so people are aware, Hert is actively looking at this but so far nothing is failing at his end, I have sent him a video of the process and he's viewing it currently!

The startup locking or "poof" crashes should be resolved in the just released 6225 build.
Thank you to those who were so kind to provide a lot of valuable input on this hard to trace issue.

I thought it was the database update that was taking place silently. After restarting PSU three time, it showed up rebuilding thumbs, and I just let it finish...

I'm also on 6225 and after struggling with the upgrade of my original catalogue, I bit the bullet and just created a new catalogue from the source files. Everything appeared to be working but when I tried to remove an extraneous empty folder from the folder list, poof, all is frozen with the message not responding in the title.

I have singe user and PostgreSQL version running. No issues at all. Not with the initial release, not with others incl 6235
My OS - Windows 11 Pro with all Updates, PostgreSQl Server runs on Linux Debian KVM VM.

Well, after another restart since the last frozen state, there were three activities running: Synchronzie Service at 0%, General Services at 53.0% and Building Thumbnails at 0.9%. It was late and I let it run overnight while I slept. In the morning, PSU had crashed and I was back on the desktop. Another restart and another Compact database and thumbnails was done. Now two activities are active: General Services at 70% and Building Thumbnails at 1.4%.
Let's see how long this lasts.
