Re: Search Filenames?
Ok, so I figured out one way to do it: Filter with a macro command on %filename
Re: Search Filenames?
You can use the default ALL to search for a filename across the entire database or choose "Current Collection" from the search bar and enter the filename to search within a selected folder but I don't see a way to search within a folder and its subfolders...it's entire database or one folder.LifeIsLong wrote: 27 Dec 23 12:20 is there any way to search a folder and its subfolders based on filename? Click a folder in the left side panel and you get all images for that folder which becomes the “current collection”.wesstl wrote: 27 Dec 23 17:01You can use the default ALL to search for a filename across the entire database or choose "Current Collection" from the search bar and enter the filename to search within a selected folder but I don't see a way to search within a folder and its subfolders...it's entire database or one folder.LifeIsLong wrote: 27 Dec 23 12:20 is there any way to search a folder and its subfolders based on filename? Click the counter next to the folder in the left side panel and you get all images for that folder with all its sub folders which becomes the “current collection”.

Re: Search Filenames?
Hmmm.... I tried the search bar in categories and in folders and it doesn't do anything. I typed in a piece of a filename that is in the current collection and nothing happened. Using all, I see categories and portfolios that match what I type, but no filenames. I expanded the folders section of All, but nothing changed, I just keep seeing the categories and portfolios as search results.
Re: Search Filenames?
Are you actually selecting images once you have expanded the Folders, by clicking on the far right hand end - dot, then entering the Search pattern and hitting enter ?

The search bar searches on tokens.
If you have meaningless names, or you are trying to search on a part that is not a word or number by itself then try this alternative:

@G8DHE: yes, All -> Select a Folder -> click the folder again to get the orange dot -> type word into search box. Then a dropdown appears, but it is only filled with categories/portfolio names, not pictures with the search token in the filename.
@Hert: Wow, that's fast! But it seems to search the entire catalog? Is there a way to limit the partial filename search to the current collection? I tried one and it always just pulls from the whole catalog.

Try this little video of finding a file https://youtu.be/pQ9hGbtk-oU
If you enter a partial name then it gives you matching images

It works. You know... I feel pretty silly to have never noticed "that" search bar before.
I was using the one on the left!
Thanks for that!
There are so many ways to search...

Re: Search Filenames?
Yeah, no real excuse. I know I saw the updates to search in the What's New notes, just never paid much attention because I usually search for things that have categories.
But now... I'll have to make use of it!
