writing metadata from catalog to file

Post by notwwa »

Hello,
I have been trying to import into Photo Supreme photos (jpg) I purchased from a professional photographer of my daughter’s wedding but am having problems. They will sync initially, reading the original metadata from the file to the catalog, but if I try to add catalog labels and write back to the file, it won’t work. I can only write from file to the catalog. I do, of course, want to keep the photographer’s original file metadata, but I also want to add the new catalog metadata to the file. Any ideas on how or if I can do this? Is there something in the original file preventing me from doing this?

I am using Photo Supreme build 2023.2.0.4945 (64bit) on a Windows 10 PC.

Thanks in advance for any help one can provide.

Can you check that the file is not read-only on the file system.

If not, then also make sure that you have the Sync-Write preference do allow writing to file

I checked and all my Synchronize Settings are set to allow writing out Catalog changes to the image file and the file is not read only. I only have this problem with this particular set of images from this particular photographer. I've never had any sync issues before with any other file imports.

You are importing them to a hard disk and not trying to write back to them on an SD card which has its switch set read-only?

Yes, they are already on a hard disk and I am importing them to a new location on the hard disk and trying to write back to them on the hard disk. No SD card is involved.

Would it be possible to share a sample file to support@idimager.com?
