Behaviour when deleting versioned pictures

Post by Filmoni »

Hello,

Are you experiencing the same behaviour as me when deleting versioned pictures and is this the intended one ?
I'm talking about deleting it from the catalog and disk, when examining them in the viewer.

When I delete a single picture, the file goes to the bin and the next image is displayed in the viewer.
This is the expected behavior for me, but when I delete a versioned image it's different.
All versioned images are sent to the bin but then nothing changes in the viewer, the deleted picture is still displayed and when I click to see the next picture, it jumps to the one after.

Thank you

No one has ever deleted a jpeg + RAW version set ?
Please let me know your feedback to know if you have the same behaviour as me, if I have something badly set or if it's a bug to report.
(When I delete a jpeg + RAW version set, the deleted picture is still displayed in the viewer and when I click to see the next picture, it jumps to the one after)

Thank you for your help

Yes just checked it here, even when the tickbox for all versions is empty both images were deleted. Not right!
Have you raised it on Mantis ?

I experience similar behavior but in my case the versions, that are deleted unintentionally, are deleted only form the database. They can be restored by verifying the folder.

Ah, confusing! I select one for deletion, both disappear from the display, but the undeleted one has not been deleted and can be found again by verifying the folder. If I choose to delete all versioned files then both are deleted.

Thank you for your answers, I appreciate it.

I'm not sure we are exactly talking about the same thing, let me clarify :
I use versioning for all my files. The main version is always the jpeg file, version 1 is always the corresponding RAW file.
I mainly use : "always together as a Set" for version Set display.
So it is like this in thumbnails view :
01.jpg
01.jpg (385.38 KiB) Viewed 6150 times
When I want to sort out my pictures, I double click on the thumbnail to go to the embedded viewer mode.
While I review my pics, I delete de bad ones
I use those options :
02.jpg
02.jpg (56.42 KiB) Viewed 6150 times
As intended, both jpeg and RAW files are deleted, and that's what I wish to.
The problem is that the picture is still displayed in the viewer, even if I just deleted it.
And when I press the right keyboard arrow to see the next one, it directly jumps to the one after

I just noticed that the behaviour is different is I use the "Viewer on second screen" option. (thumbnails window on one screen, pictures displayed in full screen on the second one).
In this case, when I delete a picture, both jpeg and RAW files are deleted and the next file is then automatically displayed. That what I want and expect. But then, when I press the right keyboard arrow to see the next picture, it jumps to the one after ....

What you are talking about makes me think about something slightly different.
If I delete a jpeg file in Windows explorer or from another image viewer (and not the RAW file that comes with it) then when I use the Verify folder option in PSU, it says that a jpeg file is missing (that's normal !)
So I delete it from the catalog.
But I noticed that the RAW file is also deleted from the catalog (fortunately only from the catalog and not from the folder)
I saw it because if I run again the Verify folder option after deleting the jpeg file from the catalog, it tells me that the RAW file is no more in the catalog and need to be imported again.
