I open my RAW files in Affinity Photo and they then get saved as .afphoto after development
Is there a way for this .afphoto to be auto imported, with the RAW labels etc as I find I am having to import and relabel etc...
Thanks
Auto Import
Re: Auto Import
Unfortunately, when creating derivative files in another application, there is no way PSu recognizes these files automatically.
But there is a way to avoid having to re-apply the labels.
If you save the Affinity files to the same folder, then go to that folder in PSu and verify the folder for files, PSu will detect these files and suggest to add them to the catalog. If you check the new files to be added as versions, they will get the same labels assigned ass the original version, i.e., the raw files.
Unfortunately, they might not get all the other XMP metatada written to them, just the labels, but if you want to make sure both files have the same metadata, you can cascade the metadata from the raw files to the Affinity files.
This is unfortunately all a little cumbersome. There used to be a script that would automatically create new JPGs and version them to their original. But that script never worked with raw files and I don't think this would be easily implemented...
I am not using Affinity to develop most of my raw files, but usually do that via DxO. It is a pretty automated process, but getting things back into PSu is an additional step that I wish could be automated.

Re: Auto Import
Thanks for that swift reply - no biggie in reality but would be nice...
Re: Auto Import
I don't use Affinity, so don't know if saving the file as .afphoto strips the metadata from it. If it doesn't, then an alternative (to fbungarz's solution) would be to write the metadata from PSU to the RAW file. That way any images processed from the RAW file should automatically have the metadata embedded in them too - It's what I normally do.
Of course that only works if you label your images before you process them, and if you're not opposed to writing your metadata to the image instead of to a sidecar file.
