I've seen many posts related to space needed to compact databases but not found a solution that works for me. As you can see in the attachment, Photo Supreme wants 151.9 terabytes to compact a 7.7 gigabyte file! If I did the math correctly, that's 21,000 times the size of the original file. Not the two times plus a little stated in posts I've read. If I combined all the storage I have from multiple computers, NAS storage and external drives, I wouldn't have 151.9 terabytes.
I'm running version 7.3.1.4538 on Windows 10. I only have about 53,000 images.
Any suggestions on how I can compact a 7.7 gig file with less than 152 TB of space?

Re: space needed to compact
My main database is 49GB & 62GB and there is 478GB spare room on the drive! I don't have any problem compressing!

Congratulations! Unfortunately, that doesn't solve my problem. Photo Supreme message says it needs 151.9 terabytes to compact a 7.7 gigabyte file.
Re: space needed to compact
Are you sure the units your counting in aren't different i.e. Bytes, KBytes and GBytes all three are used in Windows properties ?
At 7.7GBytes I would have expected around 16GBytes or so ?

Re: space needed to compact
I'm reading from the message Photo Supreme gives me, not from Windows Properties. It clearly says 151.9 TB to compact a 7.7 GB database and fails.See for yourself in the attached screenshot of the message. Just for fun, I created a new catalog with 20 images; yes two-zero images. Trying to compact the database of 20 images I got a similar message, I didn't save the numbers, requiring more than the 684 GB available.
I've used this product since the early IDimager days and am reasonably familiar with it. I've not had this problem with earlier versions.I believe it happened after the last update.

Problem solved! Opened PS and got the update message. Updated to 7.4.0.4541. Ran Compact and it worked. Just a glitch between previous version and my system I guess.

Yes I saw in the update log a fix to a display problem!
