Hi there
Lately when compacting the thumbs DB I've started to get this error message when it is done. Compacting the cat DB is fine and no error message show. When the thumbs DB is done a box with "database or disk is full" message pops up, when ok'ing that a "compacting database(s) has finished" box pops up and everything seems to be working normal. I realise that I've done a lousy job deleting pictures and the thumbs DB has grown to a whopping 71GB size and is placed at my C drive, but... My C drive has 117GB available space out of 475 so presume that is not the real problem. The pictures themselves (209k) are on a large spinndisk (D).
Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong, or what I should do?
I'm running the latest Idi version on a Win10 Xeon E5 1650v3 pc with 32GB of memory.
Regards Rune

Re: Compacting thums DB error
To compact a database you need minimum the size of that database as free disk space.
What is your preview size configured at? In general there should be no need to set that over 1440. If configured at a higher value then lower that to 1440.

Re: Compacting thums DB error
If you change your preview size, don't forget to rebuild the thumbnails so that the DB actually will get smaller.
Re: Compacting thums DB error
Good tip. That used to be the case.
However, since v7, PSU offers the option to downsize existing previews when made smaller so no manual rebuild is needed anymore.

Re: Compacting thums DB error
All is good now, it compacted nicely last night. I had previews set at 1920, reset to 1440, rebuilt and thats it...
Thank You

Re: Compacting thums DB error
Hert, given that lack of disk space when compacting is an ongoing issue with many users, could you do a disk space check before compacting and if insufficient space display a warning dialog with some information on resolving the issue such as how to change the temp folder. Just a thought.
