My main pc recently suffered a motherboard failure. The disks were fine and all my photo files and ps database were on external USB drives. I have around 400k photos and I had setup ps to write all the metadata to xmp sidecars for all file types.
The question is whether it is better to recover using the ps databases or just to reimport from the xmp data. Any advice?
I presume that if I recover using the databases that I will either have to set up disk drives with same letters as before or there will need to be a way to tell ps how to map to the new drives
Edit - I should be clear that I have got a replacement pc
Moving to a new pc after motherboard failure
Re: Moving to a new pc after motherboard failure
Can you not use the "Map to correct physical folder" option after the images have been restored to whatever drive, and the original DB is in place ?
