PSU on Windows 11

Post by KeesdH »

So I thought, let's try Windows 11 on my new laptop. All went well and I started PSU (latest version). At first all seemed to work well untill I tried to share some pictures. I pushed the share button, for a few seconds nothing happened and then PSU hard crashed. Reinstall, restart etc did not help. I reverted back to Windows 10 (again without any issues) and PS works as expected again.
Anybody tried Windows 11 and PSU?? Or has a solution to this issue?

I don't think PSU has been updated nor released for Windows 11.

At the very least, i don't have a solution.

Windows 11 wasn't the simple update that I expected it to be. Apparently Microsoft changed a a lot for the better under the hood. That also meant that big changes for PSU were required.

Below is a link to a beta for *all* Windows users. The changes implemented for Windows 11 can also impact other Windows users as PSU has to run on all the supported Windows versions.

You can now install a beta from here:
<hert; removed the link...this is now live. Registered V6 and higher users can download the latest update from the website or Control Panel>

Please post below if you find oddities. Thank you for participating.

Ok, I installed W11 again and the PSU beta. The first impression is good. The reported issue no longer exists. Running some more tests now.
Thanks, Hert.

That's great news. If anything pops up, please let me know. Things to be on the lookout for are:

1. Windows raising an exception on opening
2. Any other runtime error being raised

Thank you

I'm pleased to report that build 3947 has produced no oddities on WIndows 10 running on my now elderly PC, a machine that lacks the capabilities needed to run Win 11 it seems.

Did a lot of work on W11 and build 3947. Including compacting the DB, backup, share, tag etc. No issues found.

I also am very pleased will work on both 10 and 11. I have a laptop for away processing and a tower at home. The tower is OK for 11 but the laptop isn't. I certainly don’t want to replace a laptop that deals with processing just fine just to run 11. At present I have mixed felling about changing to 11 which would leave it being the only one out of 3 computers in our house.

Hi, is the beta available only on PSU V7 ?
I'm on V6 (c.5.6.0.3431 (64 bits)) and in the User Control Panel I can only see the 4 following options:
- Switch to Photo Supreme V7 for Windows
- download license
- download 64 bit Installer download 64 bit Installer
- download 32 bit Installer download 32 bit Installer

V7 is fully released and working on all versions of Windows as I understand it.

I run PSU v6 and have just migrated to a W11 laptop. Though I've not used it thoroughly on this machine yet it seems to be working fine. The install went smoothly.

I had to remember to exclude the catalog folder from virus scanning.

If you have a directory where changes have taken place, try scanning it. Then PSU v6 always crashes. They are some things PSU v6 can't do on W11 PC.

That seems fine for me. Have scanned NAS drives and folders on the W11 C: drive, no issues.
