Free Photo Supreme Lite Edition

Post by Hert »

There's now a completely free(!!) Photo Supreme Lite edition.

This edition is the ideal stepping-stone to the Single User Edition. The Lite edition has the following limitations compared to the Single User edition:

1. Max 2500 assets
2. Max one Catalog
3. No login dialog option
4. No command line parameters

Thanks a lot for this free version. It was a perfect timing for me !

I was wondering if there could be any other differences than those mentioned in the post. I notably had several crashes / freezes during tag operations on many files and I wondered if the free version was less stable. I don't see many crash issues mentioned in the forum...

Thanks !

Its badly crippled really in that one can only have one catalogue. I suppose the idea is to drive the user to the paid version but it could also have the reverse effect.

That's an interesting viewpoint. Clearly some people will have valid reasons for maintaining more than one catalogue: work use/home use perhaps. And it can sometimes be useful to have a test catalogue to try things out. But generally speaking I've always thought the point of PSU is that it allows one to keep control of all one's photos together and offers tools to locate and manage them within one location and that having multiple catalogues would defeat the object, and to me it doesn't seem an unreasonable restriction for a free "light" version. I would have thought the 5000 image limit would be more restrictive (with the catalog limit being to stop people circumventing this). It would be interesting to know how many users maintain more than one catalog and what their reasons are, might prove useful for others.

For a normal user it is certainly not useful to have more than one catalog.
I manage with PSU only 35000 photos (A few years ago more photos, but after the last deletion action).

For free edition i guess it is enough. It is more for trying things then eventaully go to full version.

About multiple catalogs. I have three Private photos (around 30k files) , Image/video collection(over 500k files) , test catalog where i put random images/videos to mess up with settings , try out things , some troublesome files etc. (100 files).

As a private user I have never had the use for more than one catalog - and neither for command lines og login dialog (what is this?). But I've passed the 5000 mark long ago.
Trying to get a lot of old pictures out to the family
