Crash during database conversion from V5 to V6
Crash during database conversion from V5 to V6
Hi,
my computer crashed during the conversion from V5 to V6. I have a backup of the data directory, but after restoring the data photosupreme keeps on telling me there is already a conversion running. Can anybody tell me how to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance,
Jan

Re: V6: crash during conversion
Jan, you can click the button in that dialog to continue anyway. Does that help?

Re: V6: crash during conversion
Good morning,
Thank You for Your reply.
When I press the button (ignore and continue) I get the question if I want to convert the database. When I click Yes the conversion starts and stops after a while.
I attached 2 screenshots to illustratie the problem
Regards,
Jan

Re: V6: crash during conversion
What version were you using prior to V6? Is this the server of single user version? How much time did you give it to finish? Can you try after installing the just released build 3546? (download it from the Control Panel as you can't use the webupdate without being able to enter that application)

Re: V6: crash during conversion
I was on the latest version of V5. I gave it 2,5 hours to finish. I'm using the single user version. I installed build 3546 and tried again. I opened the task manager to see what happens: after pressing "yes" the process starts using processor, memory and disk. After about 7 seconds processor usage turns to zero, then disk usage turns to zero, memory usage stays at about 145 Mb. Status becomes "not responding".
Re: V6: crash during conversion
Jan, would it be possible to send me a (zipped) copy of your V5 database? No need for the thumbs database

Re: V6: crash during conversion
I seem to have the same issue with a conversion from version 3 to 6. reinstalled both and restored database from previous backup. Same result.
First I thought disk space but with over 100Gb left it should be enough.
Please advise.
regards
Carlo

Re: V6: crash during conversion
I am not sure if this is related in detail, but at least I do have also findings on upgrading from V5 to V6.
I have 2 Notebooks (PC1 and PC2)
PC1 had PSU V5 and I managed to Update to V6 without troubles, but now (afterwards) I have one challange with out-of-snyc images (viewtopic.php?f=57&t=28616. But that is another storry.
PC2 is a complete new installation, it is the first time I installed PSU on that PC and it has its own V6 licence. I did a back-up on PC1 in V5 before upgrading (Sandwich button - catalog - Backup PSU Data) and copied it to PC2. In PC2 I used "Restore PSU Data" (Sandwich - catalog - Restore...), so technically I plan to restore V5 data in V6 to be clear on that. A popup told me that PSU will be closed in order to perform the restore process and I shall start it again when closed...but PSU V6 never closed itself after confirming this popup. At least not within a timespan of 15 minutes in which nothing seemed to happen (no process und Activity started). I closed PSU manually but after re-start it was still an empty catalog. I did the same two or three times without success.
On PC2 I simply start a complete new image import now and re-build the catalog from the image-metadatas...
I do not have troubles on PC2 with handling out-of-sync images, like on PC1. I did special tests on that already.
So I believe there may be something wrong with my very old catalog which has its roots in idimager, gone over PSU V2 and V5...my plan now is to copy the newly build catalog from PSU V6 (PC2) onto PC1 and forgett about the old catalog...but

Re: V6: crash during conversion
Have the same problem as janfiers in his post from 17 Feb 21: Coming from PSU 4 I installed the single user version 6.0.03613 on a high spec Windows 10 PC and an i7 generation laptop and upon opening PSU 6 the database conversion stalls as janfiers described above. Could just post the same 2 pictures as Janfiers did. There is 0% processor usage in the windows task manager on both computers and the programms conversion dialogue is stuck and telling "not responding". During my first attempt from yesterday I waitet for 20 hours for anything to happen (having 40.000 pictures on my PC and 11.000 on my laptop). Today I killed the process on both computers, restored the database, opened PSU 4 and compacted the database. Now trying again, but just the same result. Nothing happening and 0% processor activity. I have PSU running on both computers independently, no frills like synching to the cloud or similar. This is very annoying. Hope you can help me with this.
PS: did send you access to both databases as a dropbox link to support@idimager.com so you can analyse if you would be kind enough to do so.
Thank you
Wolf
