Morning,
I am using PSU 64 bit 5.6.0.3431 with Windows 10.
In the Detail panel I wanted to write a name in the Copyright area. This I have done a lot in the past but not for some time.
To my surprise I notice the text area called "Original Copyright" is locked. I can not add a name and can not change the text I added earlier.
Can other people update this area?
Is there a reason why this area is locked?
Have I done something wrong (most likely yes)?
Regards, Harald
Can not update "Original Copyright"
Re: Can not update "Original Copyright"
No problem writing, editing & deleting here under Windows 8.1, writing to the image rather than to a sidecar.
You haven't accidentally set the image / sidecar to read only?

Re: Can not update "Original Copyright"
This is a JPG file so no sidecar
The file is not protected, I can update other fields like Description or Copyright Notice
I have tried a number of files and Original Copyright is blocked for them all, all other metadata seems to be open

Re: Can not update "Original Copyright"
Thanks Geoff,
If/when you upgrade to 3431 could you please give it a test again.

No problem here, 3431 Windows 7.
Re: Can not update "Original Copyright"
I am lost ... any suggestion what to check?
Re: Can not update "Original Copyright"
Try to select a different editor. Do this by clicking the upper right menu button in the Details Panel.
I have the “Advanced” editor selected

Re: Can not update "Original Copyright"
Strange, I did an update this morning, which is not here ... probably due to a user error (of course)
Case closed, problem gone and I am again a very happy user.
Now, I have to admit I am not quite sure what the solution was, my actions were as follows:
I have always used the Advanced Editor, now I tried them all ... no luck
Created a new Detail Profile ... no luck
Felt a bit angry since nothing seemed to work, said a few well choosen words ... no luck
Decided to look at the Info Panel since they both work with meta data ... no luck
In the Info Panel I saw a bunch of Custom Fields I hade created many years ago
and noticed one was the famous "Original Copyright"
While being in a let's-remove-things mode did I delete all these Custom Fields ... no luck
With nothing else to try I did the most fundamental and basic thing, restarted PSU ... luck
Suddenly the "Original Copyright" worked, have now been able to do the updates I wanted to do
Now the sun is shining, birds singing, keys tapping and me and PSU are again best of friends.
However, I can not say precisely what fixed the problem, apart from what I have said above.
I had both "Original Copyright" and "Description" as Custom Fields and Description was editable.
For the OC field did I notice the text label in front of the input area was truncated, if it matters.
I now leave this life-shattering episode behind and will light a log in the fire-place to fight the -9 C outside.
Thanks for all help, much appreciated, Harald
