best Android gallery app?

Post by snowman1 »

I'm wondering what Android gallery apps have people found to be the best? I'm currently using the supplied Samsung app - it's ok, and free, but not especially flexible so wondering if others have a favourite?

F-Stop Gallery Pro (Paid) - Works great with PhotoSupreme due to excellent metadata use but image editing restricted only to cropping and resizing.

EZ Gallery (Free version of F-Stop Gallery Pro)

Photo Editor by McGyver - (Paid version Does A LOT, free version has ads and fewer functions, BUT low cost and excellent image editor, handles metadata editing / adding, very good bulk tools. Gallery though is the weakest. Small in size compared to a lot of other bloated image editors.

Photo Mate R3 - most complete pro gallery and editing app IMO without amateur garbage like stickers and idiotic filters, does so much and has major image editor, metadata editor, but most expensive at about $14 US on Google Play Store.

SimpleGallery Pro - Free on F-Droid or GitHub, Paid on Google Play which has the Video Editor component which to me is kind of useless. App seems to be getting more bloated but has a lot of customization. Renaming is kind of weak and displays metadata but poor editing.

QP Gallery - via GitHub - used to be QuickPic but has been modernized for use with recent versions of Android, 8-11. Pretty basic but very fast, nice look and features, good basic editing, other features and a VERY small efficient app. Mods have stalled recently due to developer being out of touch until some time in February.

QuickPic v4.5.2 - via XDA Forum (do a search for version QuickPic and find the link to v4.5.2 which is last good version before it was corrupted-read XDA Forum thread to learn more). Excellent basic fast small gallery app, better than stock gallery apps.

Depends how you define 'best', I guess.

Personally I use Camera Roll. No flashy features, but free (opensource) and does what I need.
