A couple of suggestions

Post by johnlill »

I'm a pretty new PSU user, although I was an Idimager user for several years. The more I use it PSU, the more I love it! I have a couple of suggestions for future enhancements. I hope this is the appropriate place to post these.
1) It would be helpful if, when a memory card is inserted, the import wizard would open up automatically, pointing to the images on the card
2It would be nice if, after importing from a memory card, the card would be automatically ejected. Lightroom and other apps do this, but it's not a big deal. I would just find it to be convenient
3) When assigning labels to all images on import (Using the "Apply Catalog Labels" option in the "More Settings" in the Import Wizard), it would be helpful if there was a search box to quickly find a label, rather than having to drill down the catalog tree.

Also, this may be a bug, but when assigning labels on import via the "Apply Catalog Labels" option in the import dialog, I am only able to select the lowest level labels. For example, on the attached screenshot, I can select "Running" but I can't select "Sports". I realize that I can do that with the LAP but I do like using the "Apply Catalog Labels" option during import.

Certainly, none of the above are "must haves", just suggestions that I would like :)

You can click the checkbox in from tof Sports to assign that.

Ah, of course! That should have been obvious. Thanks, Hert.

I am quite the opposite: I don't like at all if inserting a memory card automatically starts the import wizard and I am happy at the end of the import session the cards stays in...
Why?
I never import straight from the card. I already find it quite annoying that once PSU is running it is not even possible to eject any card or disconnect any USB drive. Why? OK, PSU accesses the file system, but drives that are not even part of the catalog !?

Ah, well, if these would be optional, to be configured, not a problem. But if PSU always starts the wizard when injecting a card - no thanks!

Have to agree about importing from card, not for me! It would have to be a chosen option.
I have my own routines that physically import the files to the storage area, in fact its a rarity for me to use PSU Import at all, I just "verify" for missing files within the file structure. Likewise ejecting a card this is handled by my own routines external to PSU.

Not using PSU's Import Module? Wow, any reason why not? It should offer every possible feature needed to ingest, it's fast, and it's integrated.

BTW; also check your mouse settings in the OS

Now that is great information. I'm going to create a workflow forum and move your post to that, later.

Back to my remark; how you describe it, I think this could all be done in PSU's Import Module as well, but changing of course takes time to create and stabilize, so understandable that you keep what is working for you.
