Hi all,
I have an issue with images being imported into my PSu version 5.3.0.2607 (64bit) (Windows 10 Home).
When importing from a SD card a random number of images contains errors causing incorrect display of the images in Full Screen view. The thumbnails however are generated correctly.
I have tested the same import procedure with the same images from same SD card with the same SD card reader on another Windows 10 PC also running PSu version 5.3.0.2607. Here the import works perfectly fine.
On my PC, when viewing the failing images via Windows Explorer (Windows 10’s application “Photos”) the images are displayed correctly. I therefore suspect that the cause of the problem is within PSu, I cannot however find a way to identify the rootcause. I have compacted the databases and cannot think of any other “maintenance tasks” to solve the problem.
Are you able to assist me in finding the cause of this problem?
Kind regards
Erik
Incorrect display of imported images
Re: Incorrect display of imported images
What is the image format of these images?
Also, can you perhaps share a screenshot of what you see in the viewer? You can add an attachment to a reply on the forum.

Re: Incorrect display of imported images
Hi Erik, thank you for the screenshot. What you display is a corrupt JPG image. The file has a defect in its image data. Psu doesn’t touch image data, only metadata. You should restore these files from your backup and best try to find out which software wrote the file. This kind of corruption is also typical for corrupt storage like a HDD or DVD or other storage medium

Re: Incorrect display of imported images
Hi Hert
Many thanks for your answer.
As you write the file has a defect in its image data,
but the software which wrote the file is: PSu,
PSu doesn’t touch image data, only metadata as you says, c: PSu can't be the cause.
The images, stored on my HDD, which appear wrong in "PSu Full Screen" are perfect seen by Windows 10's "Photo" and also in Corel Paint Shop Pro,
with that I acquit my HDD for failure.
It is only app. 10 to 25 imported images out of maybe 100 images which goes wrong.
I appreciate any good proposal to solve my problem.
Kind regards
Erik

Re: Incorrect display of imported images
Hi Erik, are you saying that you can view this file correctly in other software but not in PSU? If so, can you share a sample file that displays this? You can send a file, or a download link, to support@idimager.com
thank you

Re: Incorrect display of imported images
Hi Hert
After carefully investigation of images on my HDD with other software than PSu I have to conclude that files on HDD have the faults, it is not PSu which cause my problems - sorry.
The corruption of images happens in the importprocess between SD-card and HDD.
Apologize for wasting your time.
Kind regards
