toggle display of face detect areas on/off

Post by pquart »

I am scanning and identifying a group of old family photos so face detection should be very useful. I have done detection and assigned labels to identify people in photos that show multiple people. However, I don't always want to see the detected/assigned areas displayed over the photo when it is being shown larger than thumbnail. Is there a way to toggle the display of the areas on and off? I want to detect the areas, assign people to the areas, store the result in the metadata, then be able to show the areas when I want to see them and turn the display of the areas off when I don't want to see them.

If there is, I've not found it. The only ways to avoid seeing the areas is to switch to slideshow or print-preview. Personally I'd like to be able to switch the visibility of 'face tags' on or off in print mode (Mantis request #2710), but maybe there is a case to be able to switch them on or off more generally too, as you suggest.

I would vote for the toggle on/off in almost any mode just like you don't always want to see the assigned labels on top of the picture.
