Sequence numbers in renamed files

I agree with Tom's post but am compelled to explain my confusion: You mentioned that none of the sequenced numbers begin with two zeros when you use the Length parameter set to 3. Yet the renaming rule you displayed has that parameter set to 1. I wonder if you thought you were using a Length value of 3 but actually used a value of 1.

Thanks Tom. I think it is now working properly. The problems I encountered arose from a series of errors I was making: I sometimes failed to click "apply" in the Rename screen and couldn't understand why the changes I had made produced no change in output; I renamed from a filenam-sorted batch, failing to recognize the significance of doing that; I was slow to pick up on the importance of padding -- I didn't do that in Lightroom and it didn't seem to matter there.

As to further use of lightroom, I am abandoning that catalog if not the Develop module. It doesn't support Phase One's file format which I am beginning to use in addition to the digital back I have had for some time. I moved to PSU so that I could have a catalog that combined both my 3FR and the new IIQ files. Thank you both, again, for your help. The learning curve was frustrating as it was, and would have been intolerable without the help you both provided.

It's rarely a good idea to use two cataloging tools and is often the cause of major problems for many reasons including greater chance of human error. I use Lightroom's Develop module for the 1% of the time that my typical post-processing software doesn't meet my needs. However, I never use it's catalog for cataloging purposes. I simply remove the image file from the Lightroom catalog immediately after exporting the changed image file. All of my cataloging is done using Supreme. That workflow works like a charm.
