Tips for working with Photo Supreme

You probably already know that you can press Ctrl/Cmd-L to open the Label Assignment Panel (LAP).
But did you know that you can press Ctrl/Cmd-Alt-L to open the LAP and set the focus to its label search field?

Did you know that you can copy all the labels from an image to another image?

Select one or more images. In the assignment panel (Ctrl/Cmd-L) the top area shows the assigned labels. Click on the background with the right mouse button, select copy to clipboard, then select the other image(s) and paste the labels from the clipboard.

Did you know that the globe icon inside image details -> Image Content -> Location is a button and you can press it to open the GEO Tagging panel? This works for an image thumb selection, as well as for label and import profiles.

Did you know that you can control if label searches are done hierarchically or not?

If you have the Parent label in the Dynamic Search or Favorites, you can right-click on it, then uncheck Hierarchical and you'll get only the images with Parent assigned. Turning Hierarchical on returns images with either Parent or Child assigned (or both).

Hierarchical searches are marked by a star next to the label name.

Did you know that when you're editing fields in either the Image Details or Info Panel or GEO Panel that you can press ALT+Left or ALT+Right to select the previous or next thumbnail without changing the input focus?

You probably know that you can change the size of the thumbnails by clicking the View button and changing the Zoom size. You may not know that you can fine-tune that size very precisely by clicking the Zoom radio button and then using the left and right arrow keys to change the number by a value of one each time you press the arrow key.

Also double-clicking the zoom size number will maximise the use of space by expanding the thumbnails to fill the available space whilst keeping the number of columns the same - a quick shortcut to get as big thumbnails as possible with the desired number of columns.

you can filter on catalog labels in the Filter Bar. When selecting a catalog label then it will be included in the filter

Let's assume you were in the Folder view when you did that, you were displaying a folder that has relatively few photos stored in it, and you had filtered on the catalog label Paris. If you want to then see all of the photos in your catalog assigned that catalog label, simply select the highest folder in your hierarchy. When doing so, the Filter Bar becomes a very handy one-click search function.

You probably knew that pressing I or Ctrl-I in LightTable or in full-screen mode displays or hides the Image Info panel. But did you know that in full-screen mode you can hover the mouse on the top left corner and this will also bring up the Image Info panel? Brilliant!

N.B.:
1) This doesn't seem to work when viewing multiple images in the LightTable, although I see no reason why it couldn't be implemented.
2) I'm getting badly spoiled by PSU: I now feel a bit frustrated that nothing happens when I hover the top right corner. It just doesn't seem fair - hence I entered ticket 2435 along with a suggestion to fill the void

I like having Favorites for assigning catalog labels but I don't want those catalog labels to be listed as Favorites in the Catalog Explorer. So, I created my own label set named Favorites and stored the catalog labels there. They are no longer displayed in the Favorites section of the Catalog Explorer.

Did you know that you can copy all the labels from an image to another image?

Select one or more images. In the assignment panel (Ctrl/Cmd-L) the top area shows the assigned labels. Click on the background with the right mouse button, select copy to clipboard, then select the other image(s) and paste the labels from the clipboard.

The method has changed in V3. You now click the Magnifying glass located in the top left corner of the Assign panel. The copy/paste options are located at the bottom of the drop down.

Did you know that if you press Ctrl+Shift+L while browsing images with the label assignement panel open, then the catalog label tree stays open and gets updated as you move from image to image? You can even drag and drop images to any label in the tree. Very convenient!
