Preannouncement: Photo Supreme V3
Re: Preannouncement: Photo Supreme V3
Any idea when Photo Supreme v3 will be released?
My trial license has expired. As I like the software, I was about to buy a license when I saw that a new version was due soon.
Starting with a v3 license seems more logical and avoid having to buy another when going from v2 to v3.
I can wait for the new version, the only thing is that I wonder when it will be available?

First of all a warm welcome to the forum. V3 It will be available later this year and is a free upgrade for anyone who gets a V2 license from our site now.

Awqaq,
I began using V2 just last week and a major part of my reasoning was to get used to using its capabilities before V3 is released. That will surely make learning how to use the capabilities in V3 easier than ever. Perhaps that reasoning also works for you.

Ordered! The ordering process is easy.
Photo Supreme v2 works quite well for me. I have added a part of my library (around 20.000 pictures) and exploring the features.
Only waiting for request #0002418 to be implemented as switching keyboard layout is awkward.
The databases are not too big, most searchs are really fast.
Good job

Re: Preannouncement: Photo Supreme V3
I've never put this in Mantis, but currently the SQL version is awkward to administer because each workstation needs to be updated manually otherwise users on old versions get 'database updated' issues. Has any thought been given to this in Ver 3 ?
Re: Preannouncement: Photo Supreme V3
That's part of how Windows works.
But in a Windows managed server environment it is possible.to deploy software to the clients centrally. I'm no Microsoft Network expert and don't know how to do that but I know it is possible.
There's no way for software to alter clients configurations or install software. That would be a major security breach for the Windows platform...

Yes it's possible to do with Group Policy IF you are running Windows Pro machines in an AD domain. But that wouldn't necessarily be the case at all sites.
The sort of thing I have seen with other products is where the client checks in a network location e.g. the server for an updated installer and offers to run it if found. A bit like your existing web update does.

But wouldn't that be the same as enabling the webupdate on the clients? They will then also be notified.

Re: Preannouncement: Photo Supreme V3
I've switched off auto-update because of the following scenario (I may be doing this wrong):
User receives the auto-update prompt, installs the update, performs the database upgrade when prompted, and is happy.
Next user comes along and can't even log into PSU because the software on his machine doesn't suit the database version. Therefore he cant do the update.
So what I do is manually update the version on the server, which also upgrades the database, and then put the word around all the users that they must run the installer from a fileshare on the server before they will be able to log into PSU again. It would be much easier if PSU could perform this itself on each client at the next start.

That makes sense Steve. Best to log a feature request for that.

OK - will do.
Re: Preannouncement: Photo Supreme V3
Hi,
V3 looks very promising. I have a couple of questions though regarding the support of Capture One Pro:
1. What do you mean exactly by "visually identify your edits" ? Will there be some sort of icon that will tell us that a certain photo has been edited in Capture One Pro ? Or will Photo Supreme be able to display the photo as edited in Capture One Pro ? (which would mean that you have access to their rendering engine ... ?)
2. Will that work only for sessions or also for catalogues ? I use only catalogues for now.
Also, what happens if I buy the V2 now on the Mac App Store ? Will I be able to apply for a free upgrade too ?
Thanks!

Hi Jacques, as mentioned earlier in this topic, I'm not going into details about the features.
If you're considering V2 then I can recommend to buy from our website. It saves you he hassles from the Sandboxing that the MAS version has to comply with
