On installation, PSU created the database and the login box showed a password that was unknown (and invisible) to me. Though I didn't bother at first, I finally changed it (Tools/change…) to a personal one after a few days, because it seemed prudent to state it myself.
Maybe that wasn't a good idea because I can't create a new database : the new DB would be created but unusable for as soon as I click "ok" to quit the Tools menu, I am asked to state the password for that new DB in the login box (just the same as if I was opening PSU) and no password can clear that box, it ends in violation… I guess maybe the original password of the installation is required but I never knew about it anyway.
Has anyone encountered such a problem ? The Quick manual says nothing about passwords and it seems so easy to build a new DB, where I am wrong ? (I already re-installed, etc.)
As for passwords, well anyway, it's useless for me, I would appreciate to skip that, and would prefer it to be proposed as an option. It's possible to skip the login box but I prefer not to depend on a password protection.
Thanks,
Herve
Can I get rid of password ?
Re: Can I get rid of password ?
Hi Herve,
By default no password dialog is shown, unless you use the Server Edition. The default admin password is master2004.
You can get rid of the dialog by unchecking Preferences -> General -> Show a login dialog on startup
Hope that helps

Re: Can I get rid of password ?
Yes, it did, and thank you very much for your quick reply, real fine. I unchecked the box, and will treasure the password, you never know.
But strangely, before I did, the problem had disappeared : I had closed PSU for a few hours, and when I opened it again, this time the default password was proposed (I recognized it with the number of letters), so I seized the opportunity to create that new DB. I must say though that I had done every thing possible, re-installed PSU and re-booted, that had been useless. And then out of nowhere, that first password reappeared. There must have been something wrong somewhere for all my labels (imported from keywords) had been stated private...
Well, all is fine, thank you again.

Re: Can I get rid of password ?
Similar problem here.
A few weeks ago as part of a housecleaning on my hard drive, I archived and deleted several thousand images and uninstalled Photo Supreme, including a deletion of the database information on the normally hidden Windows folder. (I did not remove the PS key file from the Windows Documents folder.
Today I downloaded the latest version of Photo Supreme from my account, and during the reinstall I mistakenly entered a new password. When I attempt to run the program, I now get the message "Your database needs upgrading and you are not logged in as the administrator."
I have tried a reboot, downloaded and replaced the key in the Documents folder, but still am unable to open the new installation of Photo Supreme.
Any suggestions?
Bob

Re: Can I get rid of password ?
Hi Bob,
Are you getting a login dialog? If so then make sure that you enter the correct password.
If you don't get a login dialog then hold down the WinKey (Mac users the Cmd key) when starting PSU and keep it pressed until the login dialog appears.
Does that help?
