how can I cascade meta information through a version set in PSU?
The version detection wizard in IDI was incomparably more powerful than the one in PSU or am I just not getting how this works now?
In IDI I had a nice workflow, could specify the version location, the file name ending for specific versions, and I let meta information cascade all technical meta information from my RAW files through the derived TIFF & JPG versions.
I tried the "Auto Synchronize Metadata" command and the "Cascade from this Version to the Version set" commands with no success. Btw it is extremely sneaky to not have this second command in the version menu right-click drop-down but only from the triangle in the version list
Can someone please advice how this is done in PSU?
Any advice is much appreciated
Thanks

Re: Cascading meta information through version set
Cascading from a version to the version set is done with the feature that you point out in the triangle menu;
You can then select what to cascade and by selecting the XMP cascade, you will write all XMP to the versions."Cascade from this Version to the Version set" commands

Re: Cascading meta information through version set
but how am I cascading the technical information like F number, focal length, exposure time etc?
does this command only cascade descriptions and labels etc (what's offered int the 4 check boxes)?

It cascades the XMP information, as the name also implies.
More important is the question: How is it possible that you have derived images from the RAW without the technical details in the Exif?
If you mean Exif information then the answer is that you can't with the "Cascade" dialog. A script would be able to do it for the few people out there that need it, and I'd be willing to write such a script for you if you like.but how am I cascading the technical information like F number, focal length, exposure time etc?

Re: Cascading meta information through version set
I know, my trusted workflow requires that quirky step.
In my experience I have not found a raw converter that can convert ORF files with the same color perception as the original Olympus converter (Studio2)
so that's what I am using to convert to 16bit TIFF as a basis for all other edits. however that program does not write EXIF info to 16bit files, only 8bit then. go figure.
so my standard procedure in IDI was to to do this raw conversion to 16bit, then version detect and cascade the exif back in the file at that step.
writing my own scripts... daunting...
btw: thanks a lot for your immediate help!!!

Oh, I missed your offer to create a script for this in your previous note. Yes, please, if you could write such a script, this would be extremely helpful.
thanks for the offer and your help!

Oliver, apparently such a script already existed. I made that compatible with Photo Supreme:
